....(The TNG episode, I mean) is the future version of the timeline in this movie? I guess it's safe to say that the timeline in this movie is a parallel universe/altered timeline from the TOS series, right? Well, I know that this is just speculation, but I would like to think that one of the parallel universes (or one of the many Enterprise D's that popped up at the end) we saw in that episode is from the 24th century of this altered universe.

That would be a good way to "connect" everything, wouldn't it?

Well, I don't see it being in the same universe as TOS, seeing as how this Enterprise looks a lot different than the TOS version, and how Cardassians are mentioned in the movie, and a bunch of other things.
