I just noticed a funny signature that I hadn't noticed before.

It had me wondering how long it had actually been there. You see, I normally don't bother reading the signatures, I find them disrupting to the flow of normal conversation in a thread -but not enough to actually switch them off though.

How about you?

On a scale from 0 -meaning that you have them switched off, to 10 -meaning that you read them so often that you know most of them by heart and could identify almost any poster by their sig.

I do but i dont, it depends on how bored I am, or how much of a discation I need. And lately, it's been happening a lot more than normal with school.

9. Read them all the time. I've read some really great ones that have made me laugh and given me pause for thought. I might be able to identify a couple of posters by their sigs alone, so I voted 9, not 10. On a side note, I'm glad this board doesn't allow picutres in sigs. I find that totally disrputive and really hate the look of an image-ridden board.

I usually glance at them. Some are quite witty. Some are dull. I should also point out I rarely click on links in sigs. Sometimes just seems a little pushy.

ETA: totally agree with WillsBabe - no photos/images in sigs!

I put 7 -- I don't make a point of reading every one and I don't always remember which sig belongs with which poster, but I still do keep an eye open for good ones, whether they're informative, funny or whatever.

I totally agree, pics would push me towards leaving the bbs =/

While I, too, agree with our 'no pics in sigs' policy, signatures can be switched off and images can be blocked (which I on occasion have felt it necessary to do with avatars.)

I put an eight. I generally notice if someone's sig changes, but after reading it a couple times kind of tune it out.

I read them when I remember. I never click on links in them. Some people say my sig robs my posts of seriousness but I say 'what seriousness'?

I remember sigs that have been there for a while, but I don't always remember who they belong to. I usually read them on the final post on the page.

Eight. I usually read signatures, but I find I skip over them if I'm reading a thread in TNZ or elsewhere that has a ridiculous amount of posts. A lot of them totally fly over my head, too. I could probably identify some posters by their sigs, and I like the additional personality they add to a poster's character. I also click on links quite often and enjoy reading LJs and other blogs.

I always read the signatures, but I couldn't identify people by them.

Some of them have really stuck with me.

If the poster shows an appreciable degree of intelligence, I will read their signature as well.
Its funny though, cause sometimes all the person's intelligence winds up in the signature, not the post. Kind of like hope that
s trapped in the bottom of pandora's jar.
