Do you have a HIP?

So...is TREK XI creating a buzz in your opinion. Is it becoming more hip. In your daily lives do you actually hear people saying "I gotta see that TREK movie"..and I don't mean at the local comic book store. I mean out there...in the real world. Is this new movie creating interest with those people you know who might not be TREK fans???

Are the TV spots and trailers doing their job? The movie is just a month off...and if this movie doesn't start creating buzz then it might have a soft opening, especially with the other movies opening up around it...

Do you see hip? Or just over exaggerated hype?

In daily life, no. Star Trek is still a nerdy thing, and no one I work with can see a difference between it and Star Wars. However, I have run into a few acquaintances who mention they plan to see the movie. Some even asking about Trek in general because they know nothing about it. So I guess the hype machine is working, but we won't know how well for a month. I'm sure it'll open big. But will this movie be Spider-Man or will it drop off as soon as Terminator Salvation opens?

If it does make Star Trek "cool," then it will likely do it for itself, and not generate huge amounts of interest in TNG, DS9, Voy or Ent. I could see some of the younger crowd getting into TOS, particularly the remastered versions. If the movie is hugely popular, TOS Remastered might start airing on TV in a timeslot other than 2am.

Yeah me neither...no buzz here, well at least not from this anyway LOL. I would think that soon they'll really be ramping up the marketing etc...just this past Saturday they started showing commericals during TOS & also featuring Aliens vs. monsters so there is definitely some cross promotion going on there. I'll let you all know when I start seeing billboards around the city and in the stink ass subway.

Would be cool to gage..to see if JJ is doing this right. I'm with you though..I think we're just at the tip of the iceberg. But with other movies landing around TREK (Wolverine-Angels Demons) they are going to want to get the foothold somewhere..

Star Trek is creating a buzz at least around my friends whom I have subjected to a nonstop barrage of Trek for the last six months. Isn't that what Trekkies are for, to rope in others?

I think, judging by its mentions in mainstream media outlets, it is at least acknowledged as one of the big tentpole movies of the summer, and people plan, at least in principle, to go see it.

why do I need a home information pack to see the new Star Trek movie?

I read that and I couldn't figure out what the heck you were talking about..then I got it...Home Information Pack..clever!!! For that you earn an extra bonus star!!!

I have heard a ''little'' bit of some people (outside of a comicshop;)) makeing plans to see this movie.

Come to think of it, not one bit. I actually have to come here to be reminded that it even exists.

Same as Ensign Ricky.

Ive seen or heard jack shit about it. No posters, no radio adverts or even trailers on the tv.

I talk to friends in the pub about the new film, they didnt even know there was one, and then gave the familia "Pfft "

Its hyoed me for sure, after following it for almost two years from little baby rumours to premier, im proud its gone the distance now.

Abrams has given Trek CPR and its now on life support until it can breathe on its own in a couple of weeks.

I have the buzz feeleing, excited etc.

Im all for it.

Just wish it was more mainstream.

I have heard the movie mentioned while working now 3 times, one was a moderate fan, another never saw a ST movie. I think avg moviegoers are talking about it.

You know, RAMA, I'm just glad to see that you are now using avatars of hot chicks. Pictures of you with your shirt off were getting a little weird.

Thanks for the new eye candy. ;)
