Do you have a Christmas wish list?

For birthdays and Christmas, my few friends and my family are always asking what I want, so I put up an Amazon wishlist. I also use the wishlist as a "maybe someday I'll get this" space-holder. It's never anything extravagant--it's slippers, books, music, that sort of stuff.

For extravagant, pie-in-the-sky wishes, I wish a certain Cheeto Voldemort would go to prison for a really long time. That would make the universe feel balanced for a little while.

Only the Avatar can bring balance to the world. We need one right now

I did a layby for that Lego Optimus Prime for my christmas gift to myself so I am wavering now whether or not to just get it out tomorrow or wait another fortnight and get it closer to christmas.

That my relatives would decide that gift exchanges are overly expensive and emotionally draining, and do away with them in favor of spending more quality time together.

I have some very generous family members and friends, but I do not impose upon anyone as to warrant a Christmas list. If I want something, I'll buy it myself.

That said, I have some items I plan on purchasing during the holidays; e.g., crystal wands (obsidian, tiger's eye, lapiz lazuli), a couple of nonfiction books, pig pillows.

Is Obsidian really as strong as people make it out to be?

At the moment christmas is the last thing on my mind with mum still having her radiation treatments and my back has fucked itself the arthritis or whatever it is has gotten worse to the point I walked out the house the other day and collapsed on the footpath. Not having a good time, and off to see a physio today to see if we can sort this all out. I am told arthritis in the spine can be bad.

I'm not sure. While I'm not a New Age-ist, some believe gemstones and minerals have healing or protective properties. For example, black obsidian is said to ward off negativity. This makes as much sense as believing in horoscopes, but make-believe can be fun too, and I like the aesthetic appeal of crystals and tumbled stones.

No I mean the physical strength of obsidian . People say it can be fashioned into blades

I, on the other hand, wish I could just mail the gifts to most of them and spend Christmas with just my husband and my Mom. But no. For some reason, Mom still wants to see her kids and grandkids. Hubby and I usually end up in the kitchen cooking and cleaning.

A decent chromatic harmonica from Santa would be nice. I used to have one and had learnt the solo from Stevie Wonder’s For Once In My Life but I damaged one of the reeds while cleaning it. The next one has to be a Hohner.

it's not strong (except in minecraft!) but it can be made razor sharp. Aztek soldiers used a kind of sword/club weapon edged with them. One of the early conquistador accounts stated one of Azteks cut off a horses head in battle with a single blow. But it the weapon was wood with the obsidian razors inside of it.

That sounds like it would be an effective material for that kind of thing, the aztec weapons were pretty smart and deadly

For me though I didn't know it until later. Wish my mom hadn't had covid over Christmas. Had a very late Christmas with her in Jan.

You can get an obsidian blade online. They can be made sharper than a razor (something to do with the molecular makeup of obsidian vs. steel), and metal detectors don't pick them up. Scary.
