You can call a potato a potawto, but one of those pronunciations is correct and acceptable, the other isn't, and if you call it that, you're pretty damned stupid.
So much for respecting other folks opinions.

No, it's po-tah-to.

People seem to take this the wrong way. I didn't call anyone stupid. I said, if you pronounce the word "potawto" you're stupid. I doubt anyone here does that.
You tried to make it look like something else, but it's clear you're also applying it to his opinion of DSC being a reboot, so infraction for flaming. Comments to PM.You can call a potato a potawto, but one of those pronunciations is correct and acceptable, the other isn't, and if you call it that, you're pretty damned stupid.
No matter how it's pronounced, they taste great in fry form!Still a bad analogy, since that's just a matter of pronunciation, which is of little difference, other than maybe confusing the person you're talking to.
What he SHOULD have said was "if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then it's a duck."
But even then, it could just be a guy in a duck costume.
It is or it isn't-- there is not interpretation. And if the producers say it's not a reboot, then it isn't.
No, it's po-tah-to.
Thank you! Now I'm thinking of the whole song!Let's call the whole thing off.
Maybe...but there isn't anything stupid about pronouncing tomato "to-MAH-toh", espescially if your're a Brit.People seem to take this the wrong way. I didn't call anyone stupid. I said, if you pronounce the word "potawto" you're stupid. I doubt anyone here does that.
DSC is not a reboot, because that would imply that there is a universe where Cadet Tilly's hair does not exist....and we're just not strong enough to deal with that.
Like open war between the Federation and the Klingons ten year before TOS? More on that here
Klingons having the bumpiest foreheads yet in a series set between an episode of ENT establishing human Klingons of TOS and TOS itself?
None of the Klingon or Federation starship designs seen thus far (30+ total) cropping up again in 225 years of in-universe Trek history?
Holographic technology which totally invalidates Star Trek: Voyager, set 110 years later? (Rewatch it, the Doc wouldn't care if he was a bit fuzzy as long as it meant he could leave sickbay, and the Sarek hologram leans on a table so they do have solidity).
But the remastered episodes gave us the awesome VW Space Bus from "The Way to Eden".We saw exactly one Federation starship in the entirety of TOS, so who knows what else was flying around. We didn't even see a Klingon ship until the last season.
Klingons use the same D7/K'tinga battlecruiser and a virtually identical Bird of Prey from ENT in 2151 through to DS9 ending in 2375.We saw exactly one Federation starship in the entirety of TOS, so who knows what else was flying around. We didn't even see a Klingon ship until the last season.
Proof or speculation? Either way, Voyager's doctor was upset he couldn't leave sickbay at all, not that he was limited to being a ghostly apparition outside of sickbay. So it's moot. The holograms have not demonstrated any solidity at all. They're just light projections, the same as holograms today or in early TNG outside the holodeck. Sarek doesn't interact with the table at all, his image is just projected so that it appears to be sitting.
The sarcophagus ship I don't mind. It's supposed to be a centuries-old derelict to begin with and belongs to traditionalists and religious zealots who don't pursue military careers or become soldiers with access to the best and most modern ships and equipment the Empire has to offer.
The rest of the Klingon armada, though, I didn't care for from a stylistic perspective. Ugly ships that didn't interest me much less grab my attention.
Full reboot wipes away just about everything and leaves a clean slate
