Or, could be reserved for more continuity breaking stuff.
Personally I think Vic belongs in the head canon now, but purists say it’s just Shatner and Pine, and the stuntman from The Enemy Within.
What about foot canon.

thanks! and you're right, they need to be lighter, like the ones they're actually using in the show. i was playing it safe.
who was it on here that pointed out the fact that the discovery jumpsuits fade into the sets, whereas the enterprise uniforms pop on screen? because they were so damn right and it's all i can see when i watch the show now.

They were in the wrong time period to do something different. But, regardless of time period, I find those uniforms just plain awful. I'd have rather they pulled the 25th century uniforms from "All Good Things..."/"The Visitor"/"Endgame" off the rack.
Mileage and all that. I have no problem with the DSC uniforms as it moves from ENT to Kelvin to DSC, and some variants introduced throughout. Starfleet has had its host of uniform changes over the years and they rarely have made consistent sense.
Still prefer this as a TOS re-imagining for uniforms but overall can live with what DSC is using.
Would have enjoyed a modified version of this to replace the OG DSC uniforms. Maybe add the metallic elements in lieu of the colored elements. Would have looked sleeker especially if combined with all black bottoms and boots of the DSC costume.

To the credit of the costume designers the insignia on the Enterprise uniforms match the general shape of and angles on the deltas sewn onto the tunics in "The Cage(TOS)." I noticed that almost immediately after the first images of Pike and his officers were released.
The Discovery and other Starfleet delta insignias are a slightly different shape of arrowhead from the Enterprise's. I'll give the producers credit for getting that little detail right.
Licensing fees?
