I have a question regarding the import of plant parts to the US and need the help of an insider:
I'd like to send Ghostie a 4 leaf clover. Pressed, dried and vacuum packed (laminated).
I know that the US have very strict rules regarding the import of plants or plant parts but afaik it should be legal to import if it's sterile and pest-free (i.e. vacuum packed in a jar or plastic bag).
However, as I once got into seruious trouble with the customs at LAX for bringing a jar of homemade pickles for a friend (only the 3rd customs officer knew that being cooked in the vacuum sealed jar it was legal), I'd like to play safe this time.
Do I need an official permit for the clover leaf and where can I get it? Directly from USDA?
