Poll Do Straight Women Think That Captain Kirk Is a Good Captain...??

Everyone should know by now that straight women view Spock as a more attractive character than what many straight guys think heterosexual women would like Captain Kirk who got with all of the women on the show. In order to vote, you must be a woman who is only attracted to men. Anyone can comment on what they think about what straight women would think of Captain Kirk as the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

I'm unclear on the purpose of this. My assessment would be that "straight" women are as heterogeneous as people as anyone else, and therefore, the answers will be about as varied as they would be for any large general group of people. It seems like you might be thinking that their answers regarding his ability to captain will be biased by sexual attraction either for/against him, or for/against Spock or some other character in contrast. In my experience, women are actually slightly less prone to confusing their attraction for competency in the person they're attracted to than men are. But that's purely anecdotal.

Um, er...the wording is rather clunky/poorly worded. Seems to me that you're saying women find Spock hotter than Kirk, even though Kirk bags the women and you want to know why and if it affects how he is viewed as a captain.

I think the thread would be OK (other than the rather confusing wording) if you knock out the "straight gurlz only" bit. Just use "women." No need to exclude any women.

So restart the thread/poll but with better wording. I'm a straight woman, but my other sisters don't need to be excluded.

Since I'm here, Spock is hotter than Kirk for two reasons:
- Alien and seemingly unattainable (irresistible to some)
- Kirk, when young, looked way too much like my dad, so I wouldn't crush on him no way no how.

BTW - Sexiness has zip to do with Kirk being a good captain. Just because some find Spock sexier (and some don't - plenty of Kirk, McCoy, Sulu, Chekov, Scotty fans out there), that doesn't mean Kirk wasn't a good captain. One doesn't have to be sexy to be competent or more than competent.
