Do people still believe in Hell?

What?! There are a whole lot of biblical literalists out there who believe that the stories of Adam and Eve, Noah and the ark, and so on are literal, historical facts.

I keep wanting to go just for the laughs. But I don't want my money going to such an awful thing. I'd feel better burning it than giving to Creationists so they could brainwash children.

Then sneak in without paying.....

do it with a friend, you know what that would mean?

Could it be said a better question is why do you believe in Hell? If someone does believe in I would like to know why? Why does Hell seem more credible then Adam and Eve or Noah's Ark which nobody believes in anymore?

Jason
Um, I still believe it, know several friends who do as well, and those who don't, and most claim "Christian" or "agnostic" as their philosophical/spiritual/religious foundation.

The problem though is how much can you really trust that your beliefs come from faith or a honest look at the evidence and how much of is just denial and wanting it to be true?
I mean I think a God is possible but when I look at the reasons I think this, part me wonders if it's just me lying to myself because on some level I want their to be God. I have a hard time trusting myself because I think we humans lie to ourselves alot. We don't want to accept some our more negative traits or we have hope for a better future even though we know in reality, a good portion of the time that never happens.
To me humans are to erratic and filled with emotion to ever really take a 100% honest look at anything.

No one wants to die. So I get the appeal. But we're meat that somehow figured out it was slowly rotting. It sucks, but we can enjoy our time here and try not to be total jerks to each other.

I don't have a problem with Creationists. They are not stupid for their beliefs no more than scientists are for their unproven beliefs.

God exists. So does Hell. I know what side I want to be on..

I'm not even touching that bait. I spent way too much time arguing with a flat earther the other day and I'm too tired to bother.

Faith isn't something another can argue you out of. Wouldn't mean anything if it were :)
Leaving faith has to come from the inside, but that isn't the whole story. It has to start with personal examination, and a comparison of strongly held beliefs set against the world in which they exist. Questions are asked, evidence is gathered, conclusions are drawn based upon that evidence. One can certainly reason themselves out of any faith, and it can be started by a personal revelation, or because someone thought to ask a question one hadn't considered, or an answer one didn't expect. So while the heaviest lifting must be done from within the heart and the mind, an outside party can absolutely serve as the catalyst for that change.
