Do any books follow up on Mirasta Yale?

I was just thinking about her the other day. I've always wondered whatever happened to her. I know I could go look it up on Memory Beta, but it's more fun to ask you guys here. :)

Not as far as I'm aware, I'm afraid. I don't think any book or comic has even gone back to Malcor III at all.

That's too bad. She's one of my favorite one-off characters, and seems a perfect candidate for follow-up.

Sometimes I really wish I had any storytelling ability. :p

Well, we did get a followup on Barash finally, so maybe we'll get one on her sometime in the near future.

Just everyone make sure you don't say any ideas about how we might see her. No one say anything like she gets a job flipping pancakes on Deneb or...

...Whoops.

Edit: Wait! If we say every single bad idea for her in this thread, then that means any book that includes her will have to be good! THIS PLAN CANNOT FAIL.

There are so many characters from TNG that need following up on, with Mirasta Yale being one of them. I'm glad that Barash was finally followed up on, but I'd also like to see something following up with Riva, the deaf ambassador from "Loud As A Whisper", and see if he did succeed in bringing peace to Solais V. :)

I think this would be the perfect idea for an anthology, following up on one off characters like Yale and Riva.

I'd also like to see something following up with Riva, the deaf ambassador from "Loud As A Whisper"

He was referenced in "The Art of the Impossible", but that would have been before his TNG adventure.

Ah, I'd completely forgotten about that reference. Presumably its related to the part he played in the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

Another story I'd like to see one day, following up on many plot threads from The Undiscovered Country and the destruction of the Enterprise-C.

With his homeworld's razing in Destiny, that'd complicate things further.

Having recently rewatched the TNG episode that originated Mirasta, I have to admit to being curious about her storyline as well. I agree that she would be a wonderful prospect for a call-back.

I always assumed Riker made up something "alien" and ... quicker ... to satisfy Lanel. It's not like he had the strength for much of a performance. :D

^I've never seen anything funny about the Lanel scenes. Blackmailing someone into having sex with you by refusing to save their life if they don't? That's a form of rape. If it had been a male alien requiring that of Troi or Crusher, it would've been seen as horrible and abusive and would never have been allowed in the episode. And it's a double standard to treat it as a joke when the one being blackmailed/coerced into sex is a man.

^ Agreed, this scene is definitely not funny.

However, I always thought that Riker only pretended to be appalled - judging from the looks he gives Lanel, he was both flattered and mildly turned on. Which doesn't make what ensues even the tiniest bit more acceptable.

Had the genders been reversed, there would have been an outcry - "creepy" would be among the mildest terms people would assign to such a scene. Double standards indeed.
