District 9 looks like it's going to be awesome!

I saw a preview of the movie when I went and saw "Bruno" and I am pumped to see this movie. I the idea of aliens living in a Palestain type gheto enviroment is intresting and naturally will be socially relevant. Plus the alien robot thingy, looked pretty nifty and so do the aliens. The fact that it is being done by Peter Jackson pretty much guarntee's the movie will be very good to great.

It looks to have great potential. Sort of a flip on the normal story. This is sort of a big screen version of Alien Nation only they are not wanted or treated nearly so kindly by the human race. Instead of being welcomed, they are reviled, feared and seen as a danger to the world.

Wasn't this a short film a few years ago? Seems very familiar. Looks good all the same. Here's hoping.

I feel like Transformers was the last big movie of the summer. I have no desire to see Bruno. I'm curious about District 9, but I have a feeling like it will suck hard. Maybe it is the timing of the release that gives me that vibe. Is there anything really good that is out right now? I already saw Star Trek and Transformers.

I haven't seen them, but I understand these are pretty good: Harry Potter, the Hurt Locker (which is supposed to be superb. Although it is in limited release at the moment, I believe). Then there's the ones that have been out for awhile: Up, The Hangover, Public Enemies...

I hope you have not forgotten that Alien Nation was a big screen movie before it ever became a series. Still, I know what you meant. I also look forward to this movie.

yes check out the pic in this week's Entertainment Weekly!

this guy gets infected with some alien spray, turns half-alien & is then able to use the alien weapons as well as the alien mech suit. HOT!

I cant wait to see this!

I knew it was a movie first but not on the big screen. I thought it was one of those made for TV things then made into a series.

geez, theyre really doing a terrible job of promoting this film. I told my cousin (who enjoys genre films) about it & he hasnt even heard of it! and I like to occasionally lurk at SuperHeroHype boards & cant find a single thread about it there!

Yes they are, i didn't hear about it until people on this board started talking about it a few weeks ago.

I'm on the fence about seeing it. On one hand, there's a part of my that thinks it will be very cheesy based on what I've seen, but on the other hand, the concept does sound interesting. I will say that the first trailer had me suprised about the subject material. Right up until the very end, I thought the trailer was about a documentary about unwelcome military forces somewhere in Africa. I was definately caught off gaurd when there was a flying city and a talking bug.

I have a mild interest in seeing this movie, it looks pretty cool. I've caught a few trailers in the past few days on TV.

I noticed while visiting California last week that theres a large amount of viral marketing for this movie. Took me awhile to figure out exactly what it was though.

This was nearly on every bench around. I spotted a few billboards as well, dont have any pictures of those though.

Those "Humans only" signs are all over my local theater. Plus the trailer played in front of STAR TREK and TRANSFORMERS 2, two of the most watched films of the summer.

There's a building under construction on Washington in Santa Monica-the wood fence around it is plastered with "Report alien Illegal Activities to your District 9 headquarters!" posters.
