Laudable, but do you buy second hand books or borrow books from friends ?
That's just it--I buy books new so the writer (not the publisher necessarily--small presses are the exception) gets the royalty check. This is the same reason I buy CDs these days. Sometimes I do want the new and original product. But otherwise I buy second hand or borrow from the library.
EDIT: What's more--why would I buy a product to support a company that is basically doing what pirates do to the people that produced that work?
My friends don't read books, I buy most books on Amazon, sometimes second hand. I see your point

Good point...And most labels are keen to get as much money as possible paying the artists as little as possible. Usually it’s possible to sue and win, but it’s a long, expensive and uphill battle with no certainties.
Personally I never got a cent for my first album: the label was always “we’ll pay soon” and “there must have been a mistake” for years until they declared bankruptcy and ran with the money (typical ploy for small labels).
Still nothing compared to a friend of mine, who had to battle in court for three years, won and the label still isn’t paying everything (and he’s not willing to go to court again).

They do. Album art and everything. I don't buy vinyl as I don't have a record player. I just use Apple Music most of the time, but if it is somebody I want to support, Bandcamp is my preference.

Yup, I buy physical from artists I want to support, as directly from them as I can. We're moving more and more (back) to a direct patronage system and this is one way. Bandcamp is great, they've had days where they don't even take their small cut.
With streaming you lose liner notes, though I def. do stream older, bigger things. And songwriters don't get their credit (though we do get our fraction of the $.04 a stream)
