In connection with another thread where we were briefly talking about how DSC's production team and cast get what Star Trek is and know its' history, I wanted to bring up something separately that came to mind after tweeting something to some of DSC's people today:
These a genuinely nice, gracious, down to earth people. People that you could sit with at dinner and talk for hours about Trek or the world in general.
I mean, I'm conversing via Twitter with people that will are making Star Trek!!!! On almost a weekly or a couple times a week basis! For example, I saw the Broadway version of RENT, my daughter saw the movie. When I showed my daughter that Anthony Rapp was not only liking tweets of mine, he was answering me, it sank in that she loves him, I loved him in the Broadway show, he's going to be in Star Trek, and here he is, talking with me!!!!
When Doug Jones was announced, I tweeted congratulations to him, told him to not let them give him a red shirt, and he replied both with laughter and a thank you! Beyond that, he's replied to me as well!
Ted Sullivan from the production team has not only replied to me, we've exchanged whole scenes of dialog from Trek, between me, him and his brother, including writing out the musical cues that would have been in the scene!
There are more examples, but I just wanted to bring up that this is a great group of people, both in what they do and how they speak with the fans. It's not a condescending or obligatory way they go about it, but it's genuine.
It will be surreal to see them on screen in DSC, knowing that we've spoken to each other!
