Discovery is being “overshadowed" by The Orville

Between Discovery and Orville, you have a show that's chosen an approach that's very difficult to do well, and a show that has probably realized its entire potential before the end of the first episode.

A show that aims high and may miss versus a show that aims very low and hits, not sure which to say is better.

3 episodes into the Orville vs watching trailers from DSC I can already tell these shows are very different. I don't see an issue where a fan can't like both shows. Orville looks to be a BB era Star Trek with some (crude) humor thrown in. DSC looks to be a big budget version of Trek - serious in tone with good special effects and action.

Orville is already touching os social issues with the last episode about transgendered species and sex change operations. I definitely thought the show was going to be more Family Guy in space but I guess not. I still like it though.

Still, I hope both shows succeed.

Ugh. The Orville's popularity is being propped up on TNG nostalgia and resentment about paying the price of a Whopper to see new Trek. Here's wishing it a peaceful decease.
