Discovery at SDCC - Consolidated Thread

The adoptive sister can be a lot of things. She could have lived with Sarek's family for 20 years. Or she could have been with them for six months and Sarek just keeps in touch with her.
On a different issue, did anyone notice Burnham was arrested in the trailer? She is escorted off the bridge and than in the exposed to space brig.
I assume Lorca will get her out.

The force fields form a square, so it looks to me like a brig cell.

Or, square = all the power left.
Or, square = minimum necessary.
Or, square = just because.

There's nothing implying it's a brig. There's no door. It looks more like an emergency force field.

Yeah I read that as the brig, too. It looks like a cell to me. You could say "why wouldn't you just have a door which is power failure proof keeping in the criminal" to which I would reply "good point. Tell every Star Trek so far".

If I remember correctly, around early August before the ENT premiere, Ain't it Cool News (remember them?!) leaked the script for Broken Bow. It wasn't bang on correct, but it was essentially right, with discrepancies explicable by editing.

I wonder if a leak will happen for Discovery? I imagine script security has stepped up a notch since then.

They take some pretty immense measures to ensure at the very least they can track-back the leak to it's source these days. So it's much less likely to happen.

Not seen an official comment on the casting of the Discovery's Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Culber, yet - am guessing that Maulik Pancholy will only be in the opening couple of episodes, then.

And did they reveal what function Tyler has, yet?

Correct. I get the impression from the trailer that they're on some ship (Shenzhou? Europa?) that gets shredded by an attack. She's stuck in the only remaining part of the hallway. Her friends weren't as lucky (see e.g. the scene where she says "RUN!", possibly preceding this event).

Nothing? You mean like the image of two officers escorting her off somewhere in the preceding shot?

This and Lorca's tone make me think there's something to those rumours about a mutiny on board.
This seems to be her Shenzhou haircut (her 'do seems to be markedly different in shots set on the Discovery with Lorca) and the Shenzhou bridge in the background. Plus, we know the Shenzhou is present when the Europa is destroyed by the Klingons. So my guess is she somehow lands herself in the brig under Georgiou, when that ship gets also destroyed by the Klingons.

No really sure how that confirms anything one way or the other.

90% of corridor is blown away. That would seem to indicate a hull breach. I guess it is possible that it was the brig that gone blown away.

I wonder if she mucks up to such an immense level (the "I'm trying to save all of you ..." from the first trailer) which causes the situation with the Klingons. Georgiou throws her in the brig, the Europa is destroyed and the Shenzhou i pretty much crippled - she escapes from containment, goes all commando through the Shenzhou to rescue her crew before it's destruction and the crews pick up by the Discovery.

Also, still wondering if the 'new propulsion' system alluded to is based on some sort of fungi/algae system, and the room it shows her walking into full of fungi/algae is the equivalent to deuterium. Could explain the importance of Stamets amongst the main cast.
