Discovery and Picard on top 100 TV Guide show list

Book: Only 58th... really?

Burnham: It's because of that stupid Leland arc.

Always nice to be noticed...........in a good way.

Wow shocked to see EVIL at #4. I watched it and enjoyed it but didn't think it would be so high.

I feel like I am missing something with The Good Fight..........it is always in top 10 lists. I never watched The Good Wife either. Anyone have an opinion of it? Worth trying?

I caught The Good Fight because it auto played after Discovery and I didn't stop it in time. It really caught my on the first episode and I ended up staying up all night binging most of season one. I had never seen The Good Wife, but I did go back and watch it later. Overall The Good Fight is better, but I like both.

Anyhow, I think it is an excellent show, although the first season is the strongest. It definitely has a strong political point of view, that goes somewhat over the top in subsequent seasons, so I can see that it isn't for everyone.

Edit to add, I think Christine Baranski is one of the most amazing and talented actresses ever. I'd enjoy watching her reading the phone book.

BTW, TV Guide and I agree about the #1 show too. Better Call Saul.

One of the other shows that's mentioned on this board a lot is The Expanse. It ranked a few spots ahead of Picard. Combine that with the fact that enough people on this board whose opinions I trust have really pushed show, and it makes The Expanse look really good.

The Expanse is my current favorite show on television and my favorite space show since DS9.

The Good Wife was very good in my opinion, I was completely addicted to it, season 5 was the absolute best.

I haven't seen a lot of The Good Fight yet but I believe it's even better than The Good Wife, Christine Baranski was the best part of that show and making her the lead on The Good Fight was the best idea ever.

I gave up on Legends of Tomorrow a long time ago, but it's beaten Discovery on this list. Has it gotten better?

It's nice to see that they recognized how much Discovery improved in season two.

Keep in mind there's been a long delay, had it been right after the season it might have been fresher in their minds.

Still, a pretty good showing.

Personally, I'd have ranked Discovery ahead of Picard, but not by too much.

I'd have ranked Expanse ahead of the Trek shows too. Devs as well.

Both shows rank quite a bit ahead of some of the other genre shows often mentioned here.

The first season was a boring slog. They've since stop taking themselves seriously it has become the quirkiest, silliest and funniest comic book superhero show on the air.

Too bad both Discovery and Picard have already been cancelled and Kurtzman fired.

Of the top 25 shows on that list I have only seen Lovecraft Country which is very good.

Yes, TV Guide has always respected the Trek shows. Interesting list. No. 8, Undone on Amazon Prime. Great show.Thought I might have been the only one who watched it. It stars Rosa Salazar who played a Trek captain in that Short Treks episode. Great show. Very imaginative.

What surprises me the most is that TV Guide is still a thing.

...and also that the CBS show "Evil" is number 4. I love that show, but I thought I was in a minority of people who ever even took any notice of it.

Congrats to the productions!

Best shows right now from TV Guide, Picard 26th. Discovery 58th.

Keep in mind there are 500 plus shows on these days in "Peak TV".

Ah yes. TV Guide, aka "the Wikipedia of television shows". :guffaw:Having read half the entries, I'm pretty sure I watched more episodes of those shows than they had...

On the plus side, what isn't worse than "Bob's Burgers"? But both that and PIC are in the top 25, so there you go. (And FWIW, DSC, for regardless of its nitpicks, should be ranked higher than PIC as well...)

And where is Lower Decks on this list anyway?

The Good Fight is INSANE, OUTRAGEOUS, and absolutely brilliant. It's taken a sharp left turn from (mostly) serious legal drama with a sprinkling of satirical elements in its freshman outing, to gonzo legal farce by the time Michael Sheen pops up in the third season as a half-crazed, drug-addicted lawyer with fentanyl lollipops.
