Digimon-Live! Action?

Digimon (デジモン Dejimon?), short for "Digital Monsters" (デジタルモンスター dejitaru monsutā?), is a media franchise encompassing anime, manga, toys, video games, trading card games and other media. The franchise's eponymous creatures are monsters of various forms living in a "Digital World", a parallel universe that originated from Earth's various communication networks.

I am sorry if there is something in the works...I haven't heard anything.

Would a live action Digimon movie work??? I watched the US version(Digimon Frontier) many years back and like it a lot. I figure studios would be after any and all existing ideas to turn into movies...I think this would work. :)

Digimon! Frontier.

Actually Digimon Frontier was the Japanese name of the fourth season/third incarnation of the franchise. The first four seasons were known in America simply as Digimon: Digital Monsters. And of those four, Frontier was by far the weakest, the most juvenile and Pokemon-like in its approach. The first two seasons (called Digimon Adventures in Japan) were smarter and somewhat older-skewing, and the third season in particular (Digimon Tamers) was really something, the most mature, sophisticated, and dark incarnation I've seen. (It's from the creator of Serial Experiments Lain, one of the most intellectually challenging and philosophically deep anime series ever made, and though it's nowhere near the same level, Tamers gets pretty intense and thoughtful at times.)

I haven't had the opportunity to see the Digimon Data Squad season, except maybe one or two episodes. By the time I got the cable network that carried it, they were only showing it in early mornings or something and then it went away completely.

As for movies, Japanese shows often have short feature film specials made on a regular basis. There are a number of such Digimon short features, three of which were repackaged stateside as Digimon: The Movie, with a couple more being shown on TV.

As for live-action, I'm not sure what the point would be. You'd have to go with child actors, who might not be that great, and much of the movie would have to be CGI and virtual sets anyway.

It might be cool to see a photorealistic CGI Renamon, though. Not to mention Sakuyamon...

Sorry, I am way out the loop. I have only seen the one I mentioned many years back in the morning on a local UPN station for crying out loud. I liked it though.

My God, Chrisopher is something else! I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not but such a stickler for details!

As to a movie like this, why Digimon? My first thought would be that they would go with Pokemon first if they were to go down this road. Or am I out of the loop as well? Unless I'm mistaken, I think Pokemon has more brand recognition. Is Digimon distinctive enough from Pokemon (from a mainstream perspective) to warrant going with it instead?

I absolutely love the first season of Digimon, and enjoyed Season 2 to a lesser extent. I never really got into the seasons that followed because they completely changed the characters, and I just wasn't interested in any of the new people.

I watched the Japanese versions of the first three seasons when I was studying the language. I liked parts of it. The first season, "Digimon Adventure", had an interesting arc that played out in the "real world" late in the season, but early on I found it too formulaic with boring villains.

The second season ("Digimon Adventure 02") started out promisingly, with the human "Digimon Kaizer" villain and his arc. But the ending was a huge mess that was laugh out loud funny when it wanted to be touching (basically, the big bad guy is defeated by children talking about their hopes and dreams for the future).

The third season was indeed the best and the only one I probably would have watched even if I wasn't trying to improve my language ability. It seemed to play out the least like a video game, and felt like it had an actual story behind it instead of simply "beat up the bad guy, move on to the next level and do the same."

My friend didn't have copies of the fourth season so I wasn't able to watch that one (or any of the movies), but from the bits and pieces I gleamed from the internet, I probably wouldn't have been very interested in it.

I don't think any of the seasons would work in a live action format, though. It's a fantasy that works because it exists in a world of animation, totally separate from our own. It would be near impossible to take half the creature designs seriously in a live action setting, and I don't think the whole notion of 10 year old protagonists would work as well either.

I think the humans would be teens/late teens played by actors in their 20's. and CGI would just about takecare of everything else.

With the right vision and talent...sometimes not even that anything is possible.

Hello, I am actually writing a screenplay for a Digimon Live action and if you have any ideas; such as plot, characters, setting etc. please reply. As I write this I am looking to fans for their input (studios love fan support for making a movie). I cant say a movie definitely will be made, nor can I say it won't.

Any ideas, jokes, etc. the screenplay is in early stages so who knows, I may include something of yours (especially if a lot of people like it).

How would you guys say if Lucemon, or MetalPhantomon were villians.
How about Fanbeemon, Agumon-x, and Lunamon being partner Digimon.

^You can't write a story that way, by pandering to what you think your audience wants. You have to have a clear vision of the story you need to tell. Not to mention the legal issues. Scripts and plots are intellectual property. The ideas have to be yours, something you have the legal right to sell to a movie studio. Although if anyone did develop a Digimon feature, they'd probably initiate the project in-house and assign it to a known screenwriter. For something that commercial, with that much toy and game revenue at stake, they wouldn't gamble on a newcomer.

If you want to put together a fan script with fan input strictly as a recreational project, there is a Fan Fiction forum for that.

Well we are not really pandering just seeing what direction the fans like, to respect the source. As for the legal issues our writing team has worked it out, we can scope out ideas fans like but can't give out details about our currents plots, studio, development etc.

Were just going out to see what people like, because these days fans and studios have contrasting ideas, we aim to develop a true Digimon story that is actually respectable as a Digimon story by our fans.

Not to be rude but: BULLSHIT. No studio is going to risk the legal issues that would come from asking fans for their input (hello, plagiarism lawsuit). At best you're writing fanfic under the delusion that someone at a studio will actually see it. At worst you're a troll.

If no one wants to put up ideas then we wont pursue this forum any longer.
To answer any questions about legal, in short, anyone saying we plagiarized wouldn't have much base for our team has come up with solid ideas already. We just want to see if fans like them.

None the less we shall not continue on this board, good day.

Again, we aim to reach all fans in every demographic, that means every forum we can that does seem to show interest in such a project. So for this one not showing any intrest regardless of forum title, we will ignore it unless someone does show interest. We will also respond to posts such as one aiming to slander our outreach project.

^If this were a serious outreach project, you'd identify yourself rather than just going by an online pseudonym. You can't expect people to take your claims seriously without some backup. Particularly since you went from "I" to "we" all of a sudden there.

Also, your punctuation, spelling, and grammar do not exactly create the impression that you're a professional writer.

Lets just put this to rest, we use cover names yes for certain legal pre-release issues. If I could release something I might but legal restrictions. The switch of pronouns is when I refer to the team or me. As for spelling, grammar, punctuation, do I always have to write at a top tier level? Not really its my personal choice.

So if you would please just forget all this, the only reason I reply is because someone continues this after I end it.

So please if you don't have constructive input don't reply.
