Different Studio, Same Trek?

Star Trek was produced at Desilu, and it made use of just a few recognizable things, for instance shooting on location in "Mayberry." The only other sci-fi show Desilu had ever done was My Favorite Martian, and I'm not familiar enough to say if any props or costumes from there got recycled.

"The Cage" re-used a ferocious monster suit from The Outer Limits (United Artists Television). "The Empath" obviously rented Plexiglas freezing tubes that were no longer needed aboard the Jupiter 2. But in general Star Trek had its own unique look.

Suppose Roddenberry had gotten Star Trek launched at 20th Century Fox in 1966. Would that mean no Matt Jefferies, no William Ware Theiss? Would the Enterprise sets and the whole look of the show be different? Would the props and guest costumes be shared with Irwin Allen's shows, to a point where ST would blend in with that esthetic?

If Star Trek had come from The Twilight Zone's parents (Cayuga Productions/CBS Productions), maybe our show would be up to its eyeballs in props, costumes, and stock footage from Forbidden Planet (MGM), as TZ was for some reason. Maybe our crew uniforms and "The Tholian Web" spacesuits would look like Amazon Women on the Moon (outdated, 1950s costumes recycled to save money). It's scary.
