Did you sleep well?

It can take me upto a hour to get to sleep most nights. Heck sometimes even longer. I've had nights when I would wake up 10 or more times.

Tomorrow, I'm looking forward to sleeping in.

I stay up way too late. I'm surprised I'm still alive. All the "reports" say that a long term lack of sleep can seriously affect your health years later. But I'm just a night owl & have always been that way....up to at least 1:00 most nights....and often it's later. Tuesday I went to bed after 3 and woke up at 6:30. Last night I went to bed around 2. No matter what I wake up for work -- even on the friggin weekends...there I am bright eyed and bushy tailed at 7 am...of course I go back to sleep (on the weekends) ...which is a good thing because I never ever ever take naps.

I have not been sleeping well for a long time. I think it's due to getting a dog. I'm an only child - I never shared a room until college, and then I was usually too exhausted to be a restless sleeper. But that ended over 10 years ago, and now I have this sweet little animal roaming around with things-that-must-be-scratched and parts-that-must-be-licked and shakes-that-must-be-shaken and potties-that-must-be-done that tend to wake me up and roll me over. I miss sleeping through the night.

I sleep like a corpse, though don't go to bed until 2 or 3 most nights. Fortunately, I work in academia and don't have to be at work til around 10, which means I can sleep until 9 or 9:30. Once I'm asleep, nothing wakes me up. This sometimes includes the 4-6 alarms I set every night. I hate getting up and I do everything I can to avoid it.

On weekends, I can easily sleep 12 hours without waking up once. Then, once I do wake up I can be asleep again within seconds and usually am. I love sleeping. It's my favorite hobby. :bolian:

I've always been a restless sleeper. Past few years I've probably been averaging around four hours a night, which isn't horrible but could definitely stand to improve.

I usually sleep quite well, but it takes me some time to get there. The getting up part can be hard, too. The best sleep seems to be the one I'm getting after the alarm clock rang and I should be getting up asap...

That's because your brain was not designed to be woken up by an alarm. It's much healthier for you to wake up on your own terms, when your brain is finished doing its nighttime work.

I think my brain just enjoys to be naughty and steal some extra sleeping time. ;)

Actually, I've heard of special alarm clocks that take your sleep cycles into consideration and wake you at just the right moment. No idea how those would work, though. I think there was something about a camera that tracks your movements or something.

That would be pretty awesome if true.

In general, though, a sleep cycle lasts about 3 hours. So you should try to plan so that your sleeping time is a multiple of 3. 3, 6, 9 hours are good. If you get 4 or 7 hours, and you wake up to an alarm, you're likely going to be interrupting a sleep cycle.

I sleep well all the time, barring the odd night once in six months or so, which is normal enough aberration. My biggest issue is that I consider mornings a highly uncivilised time to be awake. I'd greatly prefer it if I didn't have to get up until say 10 or 11 am. That "feels" about right to my body. So on the days where I have to get up sooner, I'm grouchy until about mid-morning and it feels like the day has actually begun.

No 4 hours is pretty horrible. It's not enough for us...it's unhealthy!

Whenever I have trouble sleeping I just get know myself a little better. After that, I'm out like a light.

I manage!

It's funny, I have a medical condition where "fatigue" is one of the symptoms. But I never catch it because I think I've just gotten so used to being tired! I'm taking the weekend off though, and hoping I get to sleep in a bit.

But "they" say that you can't catch up on sleep. I've been managing too since I'm about 12 I've been staying up far too late. I think it's because the parents were so strict with my bedtime as a kid that I've spent the rest of my life rebelling against it.

I mean to get 20 hours a week (Mon-Fri) for the work week is not good...it just can't be good and I know there were studies done on it and it was confirmed. Yeah we're ok now but down the road it takes it's toll. But come to think of it I'll probably be dead by the time down the road comes to me anyway...with all this smoking that's going on...LOL sleep deprivation is probably the least of my problems.
