Did you learn something new today?

I have always thought that if you learn something new each day than the day isn't wasted. So I would like people to share with me something they learnt each day - it can be a small piece of trivia, it can be a skill you have just acquired etc etc

My something new today is

Sea snakes are not found in the Atlantic Ocean. I read this in the New Scientist magazine.

I learned that some Coca-Cola is available with real sugar instead of corn syrup, and that the taste is noticeably different.

I learnt that at Gregs when they make a sandwich they put all the meat to one side of the sandwich and face it to the front of the display cabinet to make it look full of chicken or whatever is supposed to be in it, but when you buy it and start to eat it the other half of the sandwich is completely empty.

Yeah I bought some cheese & crackers like that. You open the package, and take the cracker apart, and see the industrial chemical cheese product is just spread around the edges with nothing in the center. Not like the industrial chemical cheese products of old!

I learned that if you make a cellphone video of a product on sale you want to buy, they can't jack up the price when you return the next day to buy it.

I learned that there were huge Platypuses living among the dinosaurs toward the end.

I learned that Spring MVC has a setAllowedFields method you can use in your local initBinder method.

Also, if you don't get around to sprinkling salt on your icy driveway you run the risk of falling on your patootie twice in one morning.

I really don't think I learned anything today. Except some trivia about Lee Majors, and I don't think that counts.

The word "nerd" was first coined by Dr. Seuss in "If I Ran the Zoo."

Didn't know that!

Cool.

I learned about the whole "10,000 steps" thing.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

*Goes out to buy a pedometer*

I learned that green/yellow wire is special wire that needs to be grounded and apparantly in the iron part of the lamp. :)

Oh, and I found that a tunnel had opened up.. making the walk to the shoppingarea Stinsen much handier :)

I learned that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was a publicity stunt invented by Macy's department store.

Regardless, he is still canon! :klingon:

I just learned that supermarkets can track you down after a move, even if they don't have any locations where you moved to, sending you coupons.

I learned that my husband doesn't have the slightest idea of how our medical insurance works.

I learned that Uganda Rebels killed more than 400 people on Christmas Day in the Republic of Congo.

I learned that our mail is being delivered about 30 minutes earlier than it was before.
