Did you know? Trivia and facts

^LOL, I can just imagine his first day on set, "Finally, a real job where I don't have to wear some goofy tights...."

Well, it was more serious than just losing his finger! James Doohan took 6 rounds. According to Wiki he took "four in his leg, one in the chest, and one through his right middle finger. The bullet to his chest was stopped by a silver cigarette case. His right middle finger had to be amputated, something he would conceal during his career as an actor."

He was a very, very lucky man! ( and it is amazing that something like a cigarette case may have saved his life! )
Really?! That, I didn't know! James Doohan = the luckiest man on the planet!!! *superhero music*

Most obvious is the scene at the beginning of STV, where Scotty is opening the bag of goodies that Uhura gives him. The lack of finger is just there.
I don't remember that...*thinks very very hard* I have to watch the movie again.

Before he got the job as Commander Riker on TNG, Jonathan Frakes worked for Marvel Comics, where he dressed up as Captain America for events.

He also appeared once as Spider-Man when the regular Spider-actor was sick. He apparently walked into the Marvel office using the 'Cap swagger' and the incongruity led to Peter David writing a Spider-Man comic in which Spidey was forced to walk around as he was stuck in suburbia with nowhere to web-swing.

Mark Lenard who played Sarek also played the first Romulan seen on screen in TOS. (I'm sure most people here already know this but I wanted to contribute lol)

Marc Alaimo appeared on TNG as one of the first Romulans seen in the 24th century, before playing Gul Macet, the first Cardassian seen on screen.

And he also played a human in Time's Arrow, one of the guys playing poker with Data.

In fact, that poker game features another alien actor playing a human. Ken Thorley, who played Bolian barber Mot plays one of the other gamblers.

Geordi La Forge has been seen on-screen wearing more Starfleet ranks than any other character in all of Star Trek (Ensign, Lieutenant j.g., Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander, Commander, and Captain).

His closest contender is Nog (Cadet, Ensign, Lieutenant j.g., Lieutenant Commander*, Commander, and Captain), possibly equalling La Forge's count, but due to a possible costuming error he was never shown wearing a Lieutenant Commander's pips, even though a field promotion to Lieutenant Commander was mentioned on-screen.

Lenard was also the first to appear as a Romulan, Vulcan, and Klingon, the 3 "major" alien types in Trek.
