Did we really wants "Battlestar Galactica'?

VOY's cast was too big, IMO.

TOS got by with only 3 major primaries.

TNG was a nice experiment in a larger cast, so I can forgive them for not using the cast as well they could have since it was the first attempt.

DS9 had access to the entire existing Trekverse so they had enough to spread their cast out and had plenty to do. Even with that some characters still ended up underused or not that important.

VOY should've had a reduced Primary cast. Would've made stories easier to tell and more room for Secondaries.

However...I eventually got tired of it. I got tired of the infighting and divided loyalties. I got tired of the desperation. Even though those things might have been realistic I just didn't want to watch them. I reached the point where I no longer cared about the characters and wouldn't have been upset if they had just blown themselves up in space...

Agreed. Thankfully I found a device called a remote control that fixed this problem.

Not saying Voyager is a better show. Would never do that...

Then I'll say it. BSG was terrible. Sorry, but this isn't a BSG fan site so I feel safe voicing that. It was OK for the first couple of seasons, but like you said, it was like desperate housewives in space.

**SPOILER ALERT** At one point it was becoming clear to me that almost every semi-interesting character was secretly an F-ing Cylon! At that point I realized that I had been rooting for the wrong side and turned it off.

It was bad.

Could any 'lost in space' show ever be able to continue on past two years without folding in on itself?

Welcome to the Voyager page. Yes, I think Voyager, like all the other Treks, got much better as time went on. There were some pitfalls, of course, but it progressed well and got stronger with age. It's still my favorite.

Real life is both dark and light, BSG may have gone too far at times, but Voyager never went far enough. People have a wide array (pun intended) of emotions, and in certain situations, those emotions become more acute.

BSG had characters that were closer to real people, Voyager did not (usually). I've started binging (when I should be writing a paper of course) so I'll see if I can change that opinion.
