Did we land on moon?

Did we land on the moon?

Another nice conspiracy thingy wrapped in controversy.

Honestly I have no patience for this at all. The people who trot out "evidence" about the Moon landing being faked generally seem to have little or no knowledge of photography, physics or the Lunar environment.

There's a nice website backed by NASA that pisses on the conspiracy people's nonsense very well. It's worth checking out just to tell any bonehead you encounter who believes it because they read it on the internet to F.O.

www.badastronomy.com

Why should I believe anything backed by NASA? They are the ones that faked the moon landing to begin with! ;)

I am somewhat troubled that, as of now, almost 10% of the voters aren't convinced that the moon landings were real.

---------------

All the conspiracy nuts who claim that we never landed, etc. always fail to explain that if we didn't land on the moon; then how did the laser ranging experiment (which required a precise placement of mirrors on the moon by U.S. astronauts) has been working fine for nearly 40 years? Also, the mirrors have also been used by outside U.S. government agencies over the years too.

Turn in the tinfoil hats please.

^ Robots, they say. Somehow robots can make it to the moon but humans can't.

(Somebody better tell the Chinese, since the Russians are already in on it!)

Anyway, I wonder why there are not more conspiracy theories going in the opposite direction... Apollo missions which did take place, but were covered up for some reason. Does anyone remember the low-budget trash movie "Moontrap" starring Walter Keonig and Bruce Campbell?
With all that fire, smoke and noise it would have been pretty difficult to launch a Saturn V form either the Kennedy Space Center or Vandenburg without a lot of people noticing.
:guffaw:

Fake, they did an unmanned landing and the stuff on TV was film on stage, look up ''missing" Apollo tapes, and you can see the flag wave and Clinton implied it was fake in his autobiography. So fake.

Do people really think that the second biggest news story ever (second to 9/11) was a total fake?

The reason I think we really went is because the Russians certainly had the technology to tell them where those signals were coming from...If no one was up there and they were in, arizona, then were the messages being broadcasted from arizona to houston? Or were they being beamed to the moon and back? Or were they recorded??

Yup, every time I see a thread like this I always give that answer. It was a space race, the Russians would have been all over the evidence that the US sent down from the Moon.

This is not worth serious discussion. There are people who think the earth is flat. Yes, we landed on the moon. It took $24 billion and 100,000 people to do it. People died in the attempt. It should not be denigrated.

I'd like to remind everyone that 50% of the human race has an IQ below 100 - by definition. And for every genius - there's a, well, moron.

We landed on the moon. 9/11 did happen (i was there). I'm sure there are conspiracies, but not about this.

FClinton implied it was fake in his autobiography.

Oh, well, that just puts the matter to rest right there, doesn't it?

Well first off, nice job avoiding the rest of the post. Second, a former President saying in his own autobiography that a man who told him not to believe the landing was "ahead of his time" should give you pause.

Were you alive in 1969?

What does that have to do with anything?

they did an unmanned landing and the stuff on TV was film on stage
not possible on earth unless you propose antigrav tech

Or if they had any super advanced tech such as strings and the ability to do basic visual effects such as slo-mo. Today, someone on their personal computer could fake the footage; they had a couple of dozen billion dollars (which was worth waaay more then than it does today) and you're telling me they couldn't afford some basic special effects?

It would give you a little better perspective on the times if you lived it rather than just read about it.

You still haven't offered any reason why NASA would need to fake the moon landings, when the technology existed to achieve them.

---------------

Obviously, the reason NASA would need to fake it would be to be laughed at by the whole world for a very long time. It would be like Caveman Grugg faking inventing the wheel or Thomas Edison faking his invention of the lightbulb.

Obviously, those were fakes.

That's crazy - little teensy strings deployed to emulate gaziilions of moondust particles in perfect ballistic arcs? That's simply not credible.

No even today no one could fake the footage. (And we haven't even gotten to the rocks.) The burden of such claims lies on those making them so go ahead and try, your film will be shot into pieces instantly by grown-ups who know lots more than you.
