Did the Doctor have a companion during the Time War?

While a hot topic seems to be what incarnation fought in the war, what about a companion?


Perhaps he temporarily left the companions behind because the TW was too dangerous, was travelling on his own anyway, or maybe he did have a companion who participated in the war. It's also possible that former companions might have been involved, such as Leela (last seen on Gallifrey, although how old would she be?) or if you follow the audios/novels, Romana (Who in the novels escapes from E-space) or even Susan(The Doctor did mention his family was dead, after all, and dialogue in season one strongly hints Susan was among the casulties). Not to mention Leela and Romana's respective K-9s as well.

I'm kind of curious to know how Sarah Jane thought Davros was dead-did the Doctor tell her at some point when they were catching up, was she referring to his GOTD or later "Deaths" or did she somewhat know about Davros's role in the time war?

In Genesis, the Daleks shot Davros and the Doctor and his companions saw it happen. Ergo, she thought he was dead.

I'd like to think the Doctor traveled with Leela and Romana during this time.

my first thought is that he had Romana as a companion, but the problem with that is, is if the Doctor & the TARDIS survived the Time War why didnt she? if she was around she probaly did not meet the 9th Doctor.

Going strictly by what happens in the TV show, it's possible the Daleks found a way into E-space and sent a few Daleks to take out Romana.

Or Lucie Miller.

Or Fitz and Trix.

I'm guessing that he didn't have a companion during the Time War because when we first see the Ninth Dcotor in Rose he's reluctant to take on Rose and he was only passing by Earth to stop the Nestine Consciousness.

On the contrary, I think that's proof that he did have at least one companion during the Time War and he/she died during the conflict.

Lucie seems like she'd be an excellent companion for Time War stories. Charley's return (and loss) would also explain a great deal of the Ninth Doctor's attitude.

RTD wrote "President Romana" into the story of the war presented in the 2005 Doctor Who Annual, OK not canon but probably about as close as it's gonna get.

that maybe where I got the idea from, actually if Romana was not in eSpace, I would be very confident that she had a role a big role in the Time War.

I dont think theDoctor would get humans involved in the Time War, look at how he ditched Sarah Jane and never came back, when he was called to Galfiery, (ok he come back but not for many many years) I just think he would assume it was a Time Lord affair and that a human had no place being in it.

I think The Doctor's companion during the time war was Death. He supposedly killed all of the major timewar powers including his own side, the Time Lords.

If he did it's quite possible the companion died, too.
