And given to how The Dominion dealt with The Maquis, it's probable that Thomas Riker, along with any other Maquis prisoners, were simply taken out and shot when The Founders started "advising" Cardassia.

Not necessarily, Cardassians do love slave labor. And there's a host of reasons the Founders might not bother to kill them. Leave them as a living example of what happens if you oppose them, make the Cardassians feel they still have power by leaving them prisoners to play with.

I wouldn't bet on it. If the Cardassians didn't just kill him when the Dominion took over, he probably got killed in any of the battles with the Federation and Klingons or the Dominion destroying as many Cardassian cities as they could before the end of the war.

There would be a sad sort of symmetry to Tom's story if he lived to almost the end of the war just to be killed when the Dominion started leveling Cardassia.

He might be dead, just saying that if they wrote a story where he was still alive it wouldn't be hard to justify.

They might have used him just to gain intel on Will Riker's psyche.

It's possible he was transfered to a Dominon prison like Bashir,Garak and Worf was held.

That would have been neat if he was on that episode as well.

They could have worked him in. I think I might have even killed him midway through the first episode to raise the stakes. Everyone would be shocked. You just killed RIker! Granted it's not the main RIker but it's still a Riker.

I'm kinda amused with these Riker one-offs - the writers make that extra effort to have everyone swoon before him. Janeway is rather taken in by him on Voyager and here Kira can't stop blushin n' smiling n' stuff.

Riker is a swell guy n' all but he's surely not that interesting, lol.

I would've really liked to know what happened to TR. To invest so much into establishing Maquis Riker and then for him to not even receive dialogue to resolve that character is certainly something that the writers missed.

I asked my wife, and she said no, Kira would never cheat with Tom Riker, because Tom Riker is too interesting.

She has a point. Look at Kira's romances:

Vedek Boring
First Minister Boring
Constable Odo

She clearly has a type, and, blushing aside, Tom Riker ain't it.

If she didn't she should have. Bareil is the most boring character in Star Trek. Yes, even more boring than Michael Burnham. I did not shed a tear when he died. Even his Mirror Universe doppelganger was boring, if slightly less so.

Bareil was boring but I actually liked Shakaar. Thing is they should have done more things with him than just Kira stuff. They guy was in charge of Bajor, afterall. He should have had more of a presence on the show.

I think why so many people perceive Bareil as boring was how calm and controlled he was. I can definitely see that as easy to call boring, but I would argue that it must be incredibly difficult to maintain that kind of serenity for so long.

I think DS9's misstep was not focusing an episode or even a B story on why and how he got to be so centered.

I know there was a line by Kira saying he kept to a pretty strict daily routine and didn't waver from it. But I have found most people who do something like that have a very good reason why... addiction, violent tendencies, trying to forget some traumatic things in the past, or any number of other possibilities. I think Bareil might be viewed in a much different light if we got some whys and hows.

Shakaar was enjoyable in his first appearance but was a jerk in his other episodes. Im not surprised Kira dumped him.

I liked Bareil in his first few appearances. He had a subtle way of doing things. But it's hard to keep that kind of character alive and interesting over the long run.

Shakaar the demobbed guerrilla trying first to farm and then is an uncomfortable politician type. The first few seasons they did Bajoran politics well but afterwards portrayals of Bajoran politics became vanilla as they concentrated on other aspects of the show. And Shakaar is a bit like that.
