It was strongly implied in the episode Battle Lines, where Sisco (henceforth "the Commander"), that one of the lasting effects was -- excuse me for being crude -- to permanently enhance the Commander, uh, genitally. This was one one of the primary reasons the Commander was thenceforth such a draw both in-universe (see his relationship with x) as well as with female and queer-identified audiences.
Now far be it from me to suggest that Janeway would be so shallow or superficial as to seek out the Commander for his endowment in particular (and certainly let me disclaim any racist suggestion right now that the Commander's endowment was at all race-related). However, a number of commonalities exist between Janeway and the Commander that suggest the potential for a future partnership: both are high-ranked starfleet officers, willing to break the rules if necessary, both in the upper quartile of humanoid attractiveness and intelligence, etc.
But let's face it, Voyager made it quite clear that something was motivating Janeway to get back to the Alpha Quadrant.
Now, the Commander, having spent some time in the depths of the wormhole, would have seen the future, and, like those of us who have become fans of the Orange is the New Black, would have been well-aware of Janeway's propensity for weight gain, as well as potential criminal tendencies. I'm certainly not saying that's a bad thing. But the Commander's partners (HITHERTO) have all been slim and law abiding.
That is one thing to keep in mind when considering a possible union.
My own analysis is that Janeway was rebuffed by the Commander -- politely, but without leaving any lingering uncertainty -- and that no "union" occurred; Janeway was "not worthy", in other words, to "service" the Sisco.
Others may disagree.
I don't think anyone can doubt that Janeway was "holding a candle" for the Commander during the Voyager's long sojourn -- notice that the only relationship she so much as even briefly considered was (excuse me here -- I must be blunt) for another officer whose pigmentation approximated the Commander's. I suggest she viewed Chakotay as a "Commander-surrogate", though of course a poor one.
So I ask you -- what happened (in your view) between these two characters? Was Janeway "worthy" of the Commander"? How far did the relationship, if any, progress?
Please don't post if you're going to be racist about the Commander, I will ban you.
