Did DS9's ratings suffer because of O'Brien's flabby moobs?

Seriously though, this thread isn't serious. :p

This.

Guys, I realize the humor has been sucked dry from this forum in recent weeks, but let's try to get back to status quo and learn to laugh again.

O'Brien's appeal is exactly the fact that he is the consummate Everyman - just a regular guy in pretty much every way - job, family, values, goals, leisure activities...and looks. Indeed, of all the characters in all of Trek, he is probably the one who is most like most of us! And for those who don't yet get this, a thread like this is just as much a humorous poke at Regular Guys Everywhere as it is a humorous poke at O'Brien.

And truthfully, I don't know how anyone who reads the title to this thread could construe it as anything other than a silly joke.

So let's all chillax and bring this forum back to it's usual tenor. Including the ability to laugh. :)

^ Hopefully he would just roll his eyes and laugh. I dare say very few of us here are model-perfect in every way, and hopefully WE are able to laugh at ourselves....

If not, we are in for one miserable existence on this earth, that's for sure.

Besides, it is well-known that Meaney bulked up on junk foods for these appearances, just to be in-character as the everyman, and then quickly lost those extra pounds to return to the rippling pectoral manhood of his natural self. I do the same thing whenever I am photographed shirtless, as an artistic statement ;)

:guffaw:

Well, that is certainly why *I* never lose the 25 lbs I could stand to lose. Well, that and the fact that I don't want to intimidate people with my raw athleticism. :guffaw:

This thread was made about 20x funnier by the fact that I have a couple windows open in tabs, and when I thought I clicked back to this one, I read:

"While I disliked much of the series, there were other parts I found to be excellent. This was one of those."

I almost snorted pop on my keyboard until I realized that I was on the wrong tab. (That quote, by the way, is from the "Duet" thread on this board.)

That should either be changed to wife, or this thread is going to look like an IMDB board thread! :p
dont worry, we're waaaay past that...
Nah. We're not even close. :shifty:

First we need to have a "Is he gay?" thread for every male actor who's ever been on the show (and maybe some of the writers and directors, too), especially those who are married with kids or whose girlfriends are heavily pregnant. These threads need to go on for at least several pages, with people expressing their opinions on the actor's fashion sense, whether he looks or acts girly, how close he is to his male co-stars, and whether he has shagged a hot female co-star (if not, this is a proof of gayness).

Then we also need a few "Is he/she dating [insert name]?" followed by speculation and links to pictures from various events. This could also be linked to the gay topic (see above). For actors and crew who are divorced, there must also be a "Why did he/she get divorced?" thread, a particular favorite of mine, or alternatively 'Why did he/she and X break up?'.

Then, besides the "Hot or not?", there must also be at least one thread debating whether the person a complete prick/bitch. This can also be linked to the 'why did he/she broke up with...' discussion, with a speculation on the person's dating habits and character.

And finally, we must have a "What is his/hers ethnicity/origin/background?" thread, which starts innocently with someone just asking for info, but immediately turns into a major flame war, with people calling each other ignorant and racist and insulting each other. Come to think of it, we've already been close to that in a couple of recent threads on other boards ('Did TNG have too many white actors' and 'why did they make Linda Park's character Japanese') but they didn't live to the promise and it all ended rather tamely. It shows that we still have a looong way to go to catch up with IMDB. :klingon:

LOL @ OP... I dunno, I like my men in great shape... but given all the force-feeding art it's sadly been unable to unsee...

Given the events of the past few weeks, the very prospect of this makes my hair hurt.

The only bad thing about this thread is that there's no decent poll. I want a poll!

Moobs or no moobs.... an intriguing concept.
