Did Chekov get injured a lot ?

TransporterBeam

Lieutenant Commander
How many times did Chekov get hurt in te hseries and movies. He burned his hand in the episode about the Hippies , He got burnt in TMP. He got a bug in his ear in TWOk and he got hurt in Star Trek 4 .

I only know that he tended to state the obvious ("We're out of it" in TMP, after the wormhole incident was clearly over). It made me laugh when I rewatched "The Immunity Syndrome" in which he states, "We're through, sir," leading to Kirk stating, "I believe everybody is aware of that, Mr. Chekov" (I wondered if the TMP comment was a deliberate reference to that).

Oh, Pavel.... <wah-wah-wahhhh>

Mirror Universe Chekov spent some time in the Agonizer Booth (or whatever it was called)...probably not the same thing though.

Well, he was "killed" in Spectre of the Gun. He got beaten up by Kirk in "And the Children Shall Lead" and "The Day of the Dove"

And perhaps the worst injury of all, he had a substantive role in "The Way to Eden." LOL

Not only should he get his hand cut off, he should tell Nero he'll NEVER join him and then fall from the cloud city, screaming like crazy.

Heh, in one of my fanfics, I have an alien ask Chekov what his function is aboard the ship. Chekov replies, "I scream, Sir."

He was a great screamer.

To me he is the Fay Wray of Star Trek.

Did you know that was William Shatner's nickname early on in his career? He was often cast as a male in jeopardy, like in the Twilight Zone's Terror at 20,000 Feet. And as Kirk, he has some horrific screams in some of the early eps, like in Mantrap when the creature tries to kill him, and Dagger of the Mind when Dr. Adams turns the machine on him.

But Chekov is the undisputed scream king of ST. He was zapped by the Klingons in Day of the Dove when he freaks out about his "brother, Piotr!". Here's another mention, but it's more a cry of terror, in The Deadly Years, when he comes across one of the dead colonists.

I can think of a few other instances of cast members screaming in pain, like Sulu in That Which Survives and in The Naked Time. And Spock yells out in TMP when the mind-meld with V'Ger proves too much for him, or when he takes on the Horta's pain in The Devil in the Dark.

I also think we had a few Uhura screams, but I don't remember any Scotty or McCoy screams. Anyone here remember?

^Heh, I didn't know that was a nickname for Shatner. I recall McCoy screaming in "Miri" and "City On The Edge Of Forever" or at least yellong loudly.

Spock's moaning "the pain" while melded with the Horta reminded me of another scream king, Dr. Zachary Smith.

There's a reason the phrase CHEKOV SCREAMS became popular within the fan community for so long, you know. It didn't come by out of sheer accident.:techman:

I really liked the site (somewhere) that had self-made "posters" of Trek. My absolute favorite was a picture of Chekov with the caption...

"Checkov: In Space, Everyone Can Hear You Scream"

I recall McCoy screaming in "Miri" and "City On The Edge Of Forever" or at least yellong loudly.
McCoy in Miri -- "SPOOOOCK!"
Scotty in TWOK -- "SPOOOOCK!"

I can think of a few other instances of cast members screaming in pain, like Sulu in That Which Survives and in The Naked Time.
Ah, The Naked Time! I'd forgotten about that one for a moment, focusing on Chekov. Great one. I love that abrupt cut to Sulu SCREAMING and how McCoy's standing there at his bedside, watching expectantly like a mad doctor. Unintentionally -- or perhaps Totally Intent on Being -- Hilarious!

Oh, that reminds me though, that crewman on the intercom -- who was also seen painting mad graphitti around the ship -- may well have the best crazy laugh in all of Trek. "What's that, Doctorr?" :D

(Although, I must give Shatner major props for his nigh-crazed mixture of laugh and sob while Kirk was being put thru the wringer in Dagger Of The Mind. Awesome stuff. Oh and another great scream in the background there from the lovely Doctor Noel.)

I think the Uhura scream I best remember was in Return To Tomorrow. We don't know what Hennock caused her to see or feel, and that made it all the more effective.
