Did CBS Steal the Tardigrade Idea?

Yes you do and yes you have.

I don't always agree with @BillJ but he's generally pretty reasoned in his critique of the show. I'm not sure what's worse DSC haters who call all of it's fans SJW's or DSC fanbois who label every detractor as an ultraconservative troll.

For the record, I love Discovery, but it's far from perfect and there are definite areas where it needs to improve in season 2.

SJW :nyah:

Same here. And, for the record, I am far more conservative than many members on this board though I take a more libertarian stance (if one must put a label upon it) on many issues. So, broad strokes ain't fitting any one here.

The Tardigrade looks pretty darn close to the spore drive. All the rest of the complaint seems to also match up. Its hard to see all that is being reviewed as being coincidental..

Yet, sometimes, it simply is. I don't know whether that is the case here or not? Nobody here really does.

@Greg Cox is an editor, I believe. Maybe he can comment on how many times he's seen similar ideas from different authors?

I guess it will come down to the court decision, as they will have more in-depth data then we do at this time. Poor Axanar..I wonder if CBS is feeling Karma now?

That and most are qualified to offer legal opinions. :p
Very true, and no knock on lawyers.
Some of them are very helpful, professional, and useful. And some of them are Michael Cohen.

I kid. Just like any other profession, attorneys have varying degrees of ability, and in cases such as this one the law isn't cut and dry, nor is the action to be taken by either party easy to see or pre-determined. So one attorney might view this case one way and thirty others might view it differently.
As for CBS/Axanar and "karma" - Alec Peters settled out of court, for reasons that are not entirely clear, but likely are connected with the threat of making Axanar's financial "records" open and public. There is no "karma" here, but rather a DIFFERENT person who is accusing CBS of heavy handedness, backed up by the same meddlesome malcontents who supported Alec Peters despite a preponderance of evidence that he was incompetent, untrustworthy, and greedy.
Those meddlesome malcontents often embrace individuals who hated "JJTrek" and think DSC is made to satisfy the "SJW agenda" and wish that Rian Johnson never works again... etc.
Axanar was a tragedy propelled by an idiot. This case is different.

Poor nothing. Peters stole $1.4 million dollars from fans and has two minutes of footage to show for it. Plus, a long gone warehouse, sushi out the wazoo, car payments, cell phone payments, and so on...

He's lucky he wasn't charged with criminal fraud when all was said and done.

Oh...forgive me. I'm a little outdated on that stuff.
