Did Brent Spiner have de-ageing effects added in season 1?

Yes, with varying results.

The original trailer for Season 1 had a shot where the deaging was over the top, and it was dialled back in the final episode.

To me the best results (not to say they were outstanding) were the dream of Data painting at the vineyard, and in the final episode when the bright light shines on him at the end of the scene with Data and Picard.

Someone on here did some deep faking shortly after the season was released with some nice results.

They certainly did something and it looked bloody awful. Somehow his hair was worst, it wasn’t at all like his original hairline.

Yes, to varying degrees of success. The shots ranged from "I guess that's okay" to "Holy cow. Yuck."
It didn't help that they put him in what looked like an off-the-shelf uniform costume which fit poorly, was made from a thinner material, and had both zipper-pulls dangling most of the time.

My fave was when he wears a turtleneck in his final scene and kind of looks like Steven Seagal. ;)

Can be explained he didn't look well because 1) Was Picard's dream and 2) the scene in the finale was an imprecise physical representation based on Data's recovered (and damaged) memory engram. :)
