i believe the last set of figures said the Royal Family costs the British people about 26p a year. that's EVERYONE in Britain. they generate so much money through tourism and shit that 26p's worth it.
26p times 60,000,000 sure could buy a lot of hospitals etc howerver it is 62p ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...Cost-of-Royal-Family-drops-7p-per-person.html ) That is not my reason for being against them. Nobody should be born whith no chance of being poor. No need to work. Give me a president, no matter how bad, any day. http://www.facebook.com/republiccampaign
I have no strong feelings one way or the other. In general terms, I am not opposed to the institution of modern ceremonial monarchy: Sweden, Norway, Holland and Spain are doing pretty well with their own monarchy, and I don't feel their citizens are in any way demeaned by it. Italy got rid of their royal family after WWII, and at that point in history it was the right thing to do: but looking back, even if the Republican Referendum failed and we got to keep the monarchy, it wouldn't change much about where we are now. Theoretically, I favour a Republic; pragmatically, nowadays it doesn't change much. So, all in all, if nothing more than shit and giggles, I'd say that the UK should not abolish the monarchy and keep their royal pomp and circumstances.
Not my country. Let them do what they want. How ever, if they try to bring influence over the Acadian people again IT'S ON!
