Dexter 04x02 Remains to Be Seen

Temis the Vorta

Had me going there - I was sure the body was in his wrecked van.

I'm liking the plot with Quinn - I do think there was more to stuffing the money in his pants than simple theft. Some undercover operation of his own? Poor guy doesn't realize how little Dex cares about ratting him out.

Rita showing up at the precinct with baby in tow, raring to chew out LaGuerta for working poor Dex to the bone was sweet (and scary - that's a pretty easily blown alibi!) It really drives home how much they love each other and how much is at stake.

It also made me wonder if it's just possible that Rita could learn the truth and keep quiet about it. Her sense of justice would be in direct competition with her pit-bull-like loyalty. That's a tough call.

Lundy is going to keep Dex on edge for the whole season and not even know it. Meanwhile, how long will it take Deb to dig her way down to Laura Moser's file?

A good episode, though mostly setup for future events - I didn't feel too much really happened. Good to see Dexter is still on top of his game, even when overtired.

Still happy to see Lundy back, and I'm expecting him to start chipping away at things and become increasingly suspicious of Dexter. Surely he must notice how edgy he makes him. The Lundy/Deb scenes have been good too - I know Jennifer Carpenter's acting style divides people, but I think she's played everything flawlessly so far this season.

I like your thought about Rita - that would be a really interesting bit of character development if it came to pass. I could see her keeping quiet about it too, both out of a sense of loyalty and of wanting to keep her life simple after everything she went through with Paul. It would definitely conflict her though (and maybe make the character a bit more interesting, heh).

Interested to see where things go with Quinn as well - he was a good addition last season and I'm happy to see him get his own story. More than I am for the Batista/LaGuerta romance, which is just too forced and uninteresting. I hope that plot thread dies soon.

The stuff with Lithgow this week felt mostly like filler - we didn't really learn anything from the scenes of him stalking that woman (who looked really familiar - anyone know who the actress was?). Here's hoping he starts interacting with the rest of the cast soon.

I just saw the new episode a few hours ago. It was about average for the show. I agree it was mostly set up for future events, but interesting none the less.

It was nice to see the other side of Lithgow's character, as last week he was largely nude and crazy. He didn't do much this week, but based of the first episode, I'm dying to learn more about him. I loved the checkers reference.

It's really great to have Lundy back. He was a favorite in season 2 and I was always hoping to see him again. I could see Lundy slowly discovering dexter. either that, or I think he'll be killed by Lithgow.

How much *she* loves *him*.

I'm not so sure he can really love anyone. There is that whole sociopath thing, after all. He constantly talks in his voice-overs about what he *should* be feeling.

I get the impression that Lithgow's character is replaying some personal tragedy from his own life. I'm not sure what I'm basing this on, maybe it's just that he seems to treat it like a job and not like something he particularly enjoys doing. It seems inevitable that he'll pick one of the castmembers for his third victim, maybe Deb? Then again maybe that would be a bit obvious and I'm not giving the writers enough credit. I'm sure there's a reason they are letting us in on his perspective so soon and seeing how that aspect is going to play out has been the most interesting part of the season to me so far.

Boom! I'm combining this with my prediction of Lithgow killing Lundy. Lundy is somehow involved with Lithgow in some mysterious way, That's why he's so obssessed with bringing him down. Lithgow saw the newspaper with Lundy in it (was that in an episode or a preview?) and seemed to know who he was.

In a few weeks, we'll see how accurate my wild predictions are. my guess......not much, I just like imagining the possibilities.

Lithgow's character might kill Lundy, but not as part of his Trinity M.O., but as some means of escape. I think we will still lose a series regular this season and my money is on LaGuerta.

I don't think he feels like a normal person, but I do think he cares about her and her (his) children. And that has scared him for a long time, but he also can't stay away.

There's the dark passenger, but there's also the caring husband and father. I don't think he's yet found a way to balance these two sides he has.

There's something about Keith Carradine's cat-that-ate-the-canary manner that makes me think he already suspects Dexter. But there's never been anything presented in the show that should make him suspicious, right?

Wouldn't it be a kick in the head if Lundy was keeping an eye on Dex all along? He wouldn't be dumb enough to tip his hand while he sidles up to Dex...

LaGuerta claimed to have exculpatory evidence that Doakes could not have been the BHB. For whatever reason, she forgot it. But Lundy could still find out about it. And if Doakes isn't the BHB, someone else in Miami PD is.

I think we will still lose a series regular this season and my money is on LaGuerta.
They certainly don't seem to be doing anything interesting with her. For a while I thought she might take the role I'm envisioning for Lundy now - the person who is on to Dexter, but not dumb enough to let him know it till they can nail him.

Oh Dexter genuinely loves her (and Deb, and Harry, and the kids, and heck probably Angel and disgusting little Vince too). The whole trick of this show is that they've invented a sociopath who isn't really a sociopath. Even when he talked about how he doesn't have feelings, it was obvious that the writers didn't want the audience to take his word for it. And he hasn't made an issue about his feelings or lack thereof for a while now.

If Dexter were a more accurate depiction of how serial killers really are, it wouldn't be much fun and this show wouldn't be nearly as popular. Someday HBO or Showtime should really be brave enough to try that. They'd probably need another character as the point of view character, so that the audience would have someone they could relate to.
