Deus EX: Human revolution Is it any good?

The game is indeed very good, but PC buyers beware; the game has well-known stuttering, freezing and crashing issues for many users. The issue is related to both ATI and NVIDIA users. The official forums are swamped with dozens of pages of complaints but there has not been a sufficient patch to correct the issues.

I'm very early in the game (just finished the first mission in the factory and the debrief afterwards) but one thing i noticed and couldn't solve.. the control sensitivity.

I just can't aim precisely no matter what i choose in the preferences.. i always have to swing back to aim at a certain point and this is when standing still (i could dial it all the way back down but then the mouse moves so sluggish that it's the other extreme).

I'm glad it's no real 1st person shooter like Modern Warfare or i'd have deinstalled the game after 10 minutes. But it's also very bothersome during fights.. so far no major opposition (basic guys with basic weapons) but i dread the time when i need to go against tough opponents.

Anyone playing the PC version and having the same problem?

This is an awesome game! Two complete play thrus for me, from Thursday to Tuesday. Never done that with any other game. I seriously hope there is some downloadable content released for it in the near future. Would love to keep playing this game.

When I first installed the game, I also had problems with the mouse movement. The first thing I did that helped, was turning off Vsync. Also, if you are using a Logitech mouse, there are some settings in SetPoint that can help: Make sure that "Apply game settings when a game is detected" is checked, also choose to use the SetPoint implementation for speed & acceleration, and uncheck the box under game settings that says "keep mouse acceleration".

Some people have also reported that having SSAO turned on has giving them problems with mouse movement.

Yeah.. got these solutions from their tech board as well and it helped a bit.

Funny thing though is that an official Square Enix guy admitted this problem and.. i kid you not.. said they don't know what's causing the problem! (points for admitting a mistake, no points for having no clue).

Solved the problem in a different way.. bought an Xbox 360 this Friday along with Deus Ex and whattayaknow.. no control problems! :p

Whew, finally finished it, with all achievements complete. Huzzah! (Had to load up an old save to nab one I missed)

And if anyone's curious about how many Praxis points you can earn, here's my final Jensen. With maybe only a handful I missed, I fully hacked nearly everything (even if I had the code) and tried to non-lethal takedown all enemies, and always tried to get the ghost/smooth operator bonuses. So... 6 (almost 5) points short of having every ability.

And thank you for the fantastic gaming experience, James! ;)
Hey, how hard are the boss fights on the Deus Ex difficulty?

Finally found the time to beat the game this weekend. Stayed awesome all the way through. Loved the little clip at the end of the credits ;)

EDIT: Decide to do another play through. it's amazing how many plot points were foreshadowed within the first 1o minutes of the game.

Well, the first one was a pain for me because I didn't give myself any combat-related augs and was dumping all my weapon mods into a sniper rifle, which didn't really do me much good against him. If you're going for a stealthy, non-lethal build it's probably best to just carry around a 10mm pistol and fully upgrade it just for use on the bosses (and it doesn't take up much inventory space.) But chucking explosive barrels at him to keep him stunned works best.

I had such a pistol by the time I reached the second boss and it was fairly easy as a result (EMP immunity helped too.)

For the third boss I used the mark and track ability on him since he cloaks, and was able to take him down with two typhoon hits and just a few bullets.

The final boss, I just cloaked and ran over and hacked level 5 terminal which completely shuts down the central thingamabobber, found a dark corner near the protective glass and sat there and hid from all the stuff that comes in, waited for the glass to get broken on its own, then just finished off the boss with my pistol. Piece of cake.

For the third boss fight, you can actually bring a hacked turret into the fight with you. It certainly makes short work of the boss

So, for me, the game is not a success.

I thought I was going to be alone in this thread, but I see I have a little company. I didn't really care for it either. Not that it was a bad game, it just didn't "click" with me. For example, I never could get the hang of hacking. And despite the claim that you can tackle any problem however you want, I found that even at the lowest difficulty setting, the open combat style of play got to be quite challenging with ammo in VERY short supply. By the time I got to the first boss fight, I was already starting to get really annoyed, and that just kind of finished me off.

I guess it goes back to the other thread about "Why gamers don't finish games." It just annoyed me more than I found it enjoyable.

Well, the original Deus Ex wasn't really suited for "open combat" either. Not that you couldn't do it, but the dynamics were significantly different from those of a traditional FPS battle.

Well I remember playing the first one and really enjoying it, but it's been so long, I don't remember much about it. In general, I don't really care for stealth games, but I actually enjoyed the last Splinter Cell game quite a bit, and I thought I would enjoy this more.

I generally like open world, exploration games, but like I said, for some reason this one just didn't resonate with me.

I've been watching various playthroughs on Youtube and Twitch tv and it looks amazing to me. But then again I've always had a weakness for the whole cyberpunk thing.
And I'm perfectly fine with a stealthy game. If I want to run and gun I'll just load up Left 4 Dead.

Unfortunately since I'm poor as hell I'll have to wait a year or so for the inevitable 50% Off Steam sale.

This game (360/PS3) is $45 this week at Kmart and $35 next week at ToysRUs. I am loving this game.

Im sure many of you already know that prior to the games release, a Sarif industries website was put up advertising the company as part of a viral campaign. if any of you saw the website, it's now been "hacked" and a pretty cool new video is up in its place http://sarifindustries.com/en/#/video/

Wow! I'm listening to IGN podcast called Extended Play and they are interviewing James Swallow, the game writer who posted in this thread earlier! Cool!
