Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Oh nice, I hadn't even thought of that! That would definitely be a surprising twist, although it would still involve the death of a major character.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Yes, apparently TNG is where characters from other Trek series go to die.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Because after Dax is done with Ezri, it's off to the symbiont pools to make worm-whoopie and replenish the symbiont population as per the moratorium on joining imposed by the current Trill President in Trill: Unjoined.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers I had the weirdest idea last night. You know how characters have a tendency to die in David Mack novels? (No offense -- it keeps you on your toes.) Well, what if 85% of the main characters of TNG, DS9, VOY, SCE, Titan, and New Frontier were killed? Then all of the remaining main characters could be grouped together onto one ship -- an Enterprise, maybe -- and then instead of having five on-going series, it'd just be one "Star Trek: Destined" series. Or something. I wouldn't want that but the thought amused me.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers That would be interesting having maybe one or two characters from each series survive but I imagine coordinating 8+ novels in a series in a year and keeping the quality and continuity up between them would be a nightmere. A crew with Picard, Dax, Worf, Troi, B'Elanna, Seven, Shelby, Gomez and the EMH would be interesting though.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Yeah, what she said. It would be cool to see, but I wouldn't want to lose that many great characters.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Hey guys, just found these synopses on Amazon UK for all three Destiny books. I know the first one has been posted before, the original post in the thread, but I thought I would post it here again along with everything else so we can get a more complete picture: Destiny: Gods of the Night Destiny: Mere Mortals: Destiny: Lost Souls
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Are these legit? I remember reading the first one, but I can't remember if it was real or not.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Yippie, more Borg. But seriously, I hope those blurbs aren't legit. David Mack will have a very hard time to overcome the wide spread borg fatigue among readers if they're legit. I'll get them anyway since I trust David to have written some good novels, but those blurbs doesn't really make them move up on my priority list.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers David didn't say it was fake or ask that it be removed in the OP. But here's the question. Think of all the people who are going to die, and tell me that this isn't a Mack Original??? Defcon, please think about what you're saying This is Mack we're talking about. Who better to stop the Borg in their cybernetic tracks than The Knife himself?
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers I thought it was suppose to a "Legend" - this is some Enterprise nobody isn't it?
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers She's probably a legend by the end of the Romulan War. We haven't read it yet
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers *smacks JoeZhang* duh, what does it say about her? Captain of the NX-02 Columbia kinda tells you where she's from doesn't it? and regardless of your opinions of ENT, she's also, chronologically, the first female starship Captain we've met. show some respect!
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers But she's from Enterprise - it's just too big of a leap for me to make - plus the fact that it's more borg. I like Mack's stuff but I'll sit this one out.
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Xeris, I have to agree with Defcon. While I'm in the minority in enjoying Before Dishonor (although I do share the issues concerning Kadohata and Leybenzon), I'm beginning to feel a bit fatigued when it comes to the Borg. And we have FOUR more books coming (Christopher's Greater Than the Sum and this trilogy).
Re: Destiny trilogy - pretty heavy spoilers Interesting spoiler synopses if it's true about the Columbia mystery and Captain Hernandez. Looking forward to getting these books.
