Destiny Question

^ And this is why Kirsten Beyer is one of my heroes. ;)

So THIS is why my ears have been burning since yesterday. People were saying nice things about me and I just now found them.

Now, stop it. I'm just following along a path you've been blazing for years, and trying like hell to keep up.

Know what would be even scarier? If Kirsten Beyer and David Mack were ever to team up! ;)

What you call scary, I think of as a dream come true. One of these days I'm going to pry him away from Ward and Dilmore. Not, you know, from their cold dead hands or anything because they, too, are made of awesome.

But a girl's got to have goals. ;)

Between my ego sucking up all the oxygen in the room...

You're just never going to let me live that down are you?

I don't know if I would want that to happen. The amount of awesome that it would produce would be so great that nothing that came after it could ever outdo it, and thus all entertainment after it would become pointless and come to an end.

You know he can hear you right? You're not helping with the whole ego thing.

Between my ego sucking up all the oxygen in the room and her talent crowding my words off the page, I don't think either of us would survive such an attempt.

You're kidding?? After you blowing up half of the Federation ( btw i want my money back because i reserved a holiday on Risa , and we know how this ends don;t we?) and Kirsten sending back Voyager in DQ if you 2 team up i'm afraid you will start an inter galactic war :rommie:

Friends, I have awful news. Today I made the shocking discovery that the idea of the Caeliar Gestalt, of a telepathic democracy was already done in Peter F. Hamilton's The Night's Dawn trilogy.

Dear me, Mr. Mack's level of awesome just took a plunge. (I must lie down now to recover).

Yeah, unless Peter F. Hamilton did it exactly the way I did it, down to the names and the story details, it's not really a big deal.

Unsure whether serious or not...

@David - Excellent trilogy. I do have slightly mixed feelings about humans being so central to everything since we already get singled out quite a bit as being "special" in the Trek universe, but you tied everything together so well that I can't complain too much (though I was a little disappointed that Earth managed to get away more or less unscathed, yet again).

Still working my way through the all the relaunch novels, but I hope we'll get to hear from the Caeliar again at some point.

^ Four captains. And though Erika Hernandez was only a supporting character in the canon, I see her as the true hero of Star Trek Destiny. In the final analysis, the whole thing really turns out to be her story.

^Virtually every idea has been done before. What matters is how it's done.

you have no idea :O Imagine mine and my friend,s surprise when we started to write a fan fic about what happend to Trip and several months later when i started to read the first book The Good that men do , i had a blo ... it was happening almost like the way i was imagining my fan fic... fan fic left at half lol. I actually always wondered how the human imagination works. now i see that it is posible that 2 people have the same ideas even if they don't know about each other. So :) Chris is right!

yes because poor Chakotay was a mess lol

The reason I didn't count Chakotay is that he was only in a couple of scenes; he wasn't a focus character for the trilogy because I was trying to leave Voyager as untouched as possible for Kirsten Beyer.

If one were to count every walk-on captain in the trilogy, it would likely total a dozen or more.

Lol. Guess we're safe then. Since I enjoy both of your works I wouldn't want you to kill each other trying to work together. :D

Yup, I saw the reason after i started to read VOY books. Because when i picked up DESTINY it was because I thought of a TITAN follow up,then after the first half of it i was so full of questions and was thinking.. where do i start? which book i should read after, there are so many stories i don;t know
And so now i have all the relaunch books already ")

David, do you personally consider the Destiny trilogy to have 3 captains or 4 captains?

I'm sorry. Somebody had to.

There's a Doctor Who novel with a Miss Marple expy who, unbeknownst to herself, broadcasts a telepathic signal compelling those around her to commit bizarre murders, thus explaining why wherever she goes on vacation, a murder takes place for her to solve.

This is the only time I've been remotely tempted to read a Doctor Who novel.

Sorry for the revival bump, but read this thread after devouring thee Trilogy (loved it and wish it'd been made into a feature film before cast aged beyond it being feasible/plausible). Recently saw video discussing Borg origin stories and heard aan attempt to pronounce "Caeliar", lightyears from where I'd have gone with it. Anyone know of David has ever hinted at the correct pronunciation?
