Destiny - Let's Roll!

Loving the hell out of the Invective shotgun, now that I have the regenerative ammo activated.

And, unlike the Fire and Ice sniper rifle, whose ammo cannot be reloaded, only regenerated over time, the Invective shotgun can both regenerate, and pick up whatever special ammo is lying around. :)

From my activity feed.

Damn, son.

Frakking nice! :)

I tried to get into the Trials last night, but I kept getting a "not enough players" notice, and so could not play the Trials.

I doubt I'd end up in a flawless victory situation though, as the Trials seems to want teams that communicate well together, not random match makings.

Total F-ing bullshit.

It seems like everytime Bungie tries to take a step in the right direction, it ends up ten steps in the wrong direction.

Trials of Osiris? What a fucking joke! I have tried repeatedly to get into the game, and apparently the ONLY way you can get into the game, even when you have tons of tokens to get into the game with, you apparently have to have a "cohesive" fireteam with you.... in other words, people on your friends' list. Got plenty of friends... hardly any of them on at the same time as myself.

So, thanks, Bungie, for creating yet another useless mode.

I know, Bungie doesn't read this.....but then, they don't read their own forums either.

Sigh..... just venting. :)

ToO is super fun, but only if you have a (strong) premade 3-man team.

Basically, it's WoW TBC-style 3on3 arenas. Not super friendly to casual play, but I don't really mind as I'm not exactly into PvP in Destiny anyways.

I played a round of Prison of Elders last night, and had a blast on one run through. The three of us, who had never met before, had a great session of non-communicative teamwork. Both ended up sending me friend requests after I commented on it.

However, although I am on Destiny a lot (despite my irks with Bungie at this point), I still rarely get fireteams together.

I'm just waiting for my next Exotic Weapon Bounty. :) Or my next chance at the fullness of the Treasure at the end of the Prison of Elders runs.

UPDATE: Got my latest Exotic Weapon bounty quest. First leg, survive and win five Strikes without dying. Whatever this weapon turns out to be, it better be worth it. :)

Solution: Well, it didn't call for specific modifiers, so I'll just play 5 easy Strikes.

Next part of my new Exotic weapon bounty.... 25 more kills than deaths or assists in Crucible.

This better be worth it! LOL

Correction... more kills and assists than deaths..ok....that's a little easier.

Chances are I'll probably get a duplicate Exotic.
Ah well.

^ That's the bounty for the Invective shotgun.

Well, hell, I've already got the Invective.

I could do one of two things:
Break it down for parts and cores

or

Store it in case I decide to create a new character, and upon reaching level 20, said new character can use it.

I'd say shard it to ascend another Exotic.

As that was my first thought, I think I'll follow through with that. :)

If I can manage it and play careful, I'm only five away from my current "Kills/assists>Deaths" part of the quest.

But if they add in a new step such as: "You must play a Nightfall Strike!" or worse "You must complete a Raid!" then all bets are off, and I'll just chuck the mission.

I would like this game so much more if you could play it 100% solo. I don't want to raid with other people. I'm not very good at it, and people are just crazy if you don't hold up your end.

I hear ya'. Now for the most part, when I am compelled to play a Strike mission, I am lucky enough to happen upon a pair of like minded players who are willing to zoom past most of the unnecessary stuff, and just get to the waypoints in such a mission, and if the waypoints permit, straight on to the final objective itself.

But sometimes, you'll run into a player or two who gets a tad upset if you don't stop to engage every single target that lay between your fireteam and the final objective. I can understand it if it is a lower ranked player who is looking to grind up a weapon, or just get more XP. However, I did run into a player who was on my level who decided to continue melee thwacking me just because I chose to head straight on past the fluff points.

Usually, what I will do in a Strike situation is wait to see what the other players do. If they hop on their bikes and start streaking toward the next major waypoint or the main objective itself, I'll follow along. If they want to fight, I'll stick around. After all, it would be unfair to the lower level players if all I wanted to do was whisk on past, and deny them their additional Xp and loot.

SPCTRE, I just randomly managed to acquire the Gjallorhorn Exotic RL (can't remember if it was at a mission/strike conclusion, or if it was loot from a box), but it's a lower level Gjallorhorn.... 334 to 365. Still, I like its perks.

I don't think it was false advertising on Bungie's part given that they made such a big hubbub about the backstory of Destiny, it's artwork and so on but anyone who has followed the news knew it as a mostly multiplayer game given that the ratio of singleplayer to multiplayer is about 40 to 60 (and i'm generous).

It's not like Halo where the singleplayer story is the main draw on top of a very cool main character where people also took very well to the multiplayer part.

Bungie however dropped the ball game design wise by screwing up the matchmaking, i.e. not having matchmaking at all thus screwing everybody without an extensive friends list who play Destiny too.

I am very curious about Destiny 2 and it'll have to be a major redesign down to the core of the game to get me to buy it.

Assuming Bungie sticks to their plan, it may be another at least 8 years before we see a Destiny 2. But, they can change their minds (snap) yus like that.

Holy shit, congrats on the G-horn! Ascending Exotics is ridiculously cheap/easy as it only takes an Exotic shard. 365 is actually the highest attack rating possible in DLC II/Year One though, so you won't even need to ascend, just level it.

I got a Red Death the other day, very nice Exotic pulse rifle with a nice perk (self-heal and faster reload on each kill).

Congrats on the Red Death! :)
That was actually, IIRC, the very first Exotic weapon I ever acquired. Very handy.

I think my second was Ice Breaker. Now, THERE is a weapon that is extremely handy in Strike missions, or in Event sequences like "destroy the Walker". It also comes in handy in Prison of Elders when you take on the round 5 end bosses. Combine the "No Back Pack" (regenerating ammo) perk with the Hunter's "invisibility" perk, and you've got a sure fire method of dealing with the end bosses fairly quickly.

Yeah, I am really trying to level up Gjallorhorn. I have a feeling it may come in very handy in Crucible, except for the fact that the ammo is so sparse. Usually in Crucible, I like to use a Legendary Scout Rifle, and either my Exotic Invective Shotgun, or my Exotic Pocket Infinity Fusion Rifle.

Which reminds me..... I think Destiny would be very well served if Bungie worked in a patch that allowed a character to make pre-set custom loadouts. That way, a character can switch to a loadout (a separate weapons loadout, and a separate armor loadout) that suits their tactical situation, instead of having to manually change and fumble through each weapon selection, especially since you can only have one Exotic equipped in both weapons and armor.

In Destiny, I would have a few different custom weapons loadouts:

1. (Crucible loadout) Exotic Red Death pulse rifle, Legendary Split Shifter Pro Fusion Rifle, Legendary MG18A Harm's Way Machine Gun

2. (Common mission/bounty/first four rounds of Prison of Elders) Legendary A.1F19X-RYL Scout Rifle, Exotic Invective Shotgun, Legendary MG18A Harm's Way Machine Gun

3. (When facing bosses/Walkers/PoE bosses) Legendary A.1F19X-RYL Scout Rifle, Exotic Ice Breaker Sniper Rifle, Legendary MG18A Harm's Way Machine Gun

or

3A. (walkers) Legendary A.1F19X-RYL Scout Rifle, Legendary Murmur Fusion Rifle, Exotic Gjallorhorn Rocket Launcher.

To be able to have these set up as quick-switch custom loadouts would save a lot of time in weapons selection in Destiny. Also, to be able to similarly switch up your armor loadouts so you can maximize your efficiency with weapons... that would be great. :)
