Destiny extract in Star Trek Magazine

As an added bonus, you get to see me actually defend TOS's third season! :)

You can do that???? You are truly amazing.
;)

Can't wait to pick this up.

Well, that is what we're trying to do with the magazine overall - chances are that we're not going to be able to tell you anything fantastically new (except some real exclusives we've got coming up on the movie) but if we make you look at the TV eps, the movies and the tie-in material in a new light, then I think we've done a good job. I certainly think people will look at the Romulans differently after Mike Martin's piece in the issue that's currently under development...

And he's going to do it using only ""And the Children Shall Lead," "The Way to Eden," and "Whom Gods Destroy."

Where does one get this magazine?

I get it at my usual comic shop, which is also where I get Doctor Who Magazine, Torchwood Magazine, and Locus. Diamond Comics Distribution carries a lot of SF-related magazines, books, DVDs, etc, so even if you're not particularly interested in comics, a good comic shop is worth keeping in mind. (I've been a regular customer of the Silver Snail in Ottawa since it opened back in 1990.)

This sounds like a particularly interesting issue of the magazine, but from the launch of the US version it's been consistently good. One of its major strengths is that Paul's much more aware of and interested in TrekLit than Dan Madsen and Larry Nemecek at Star Trek Communicator ever seemed to be.

Thanks for that, Steve - but to be fair to both Dan and Larry, they were operating at a time when there was a lot of new product on screen, which I'm not. The books and the comics are the *only* new Trek bar the two-hours odd that we'll get in 9 months time that's on the horizon - and I take a very holistic approach to the Star Trek universe. Somewhere in the not-too-distant future, we're going to be trying to reconcile some of the inconsistencies that have arisen between the books and the on screen stuff over the years, and as we get near the movie, there will be a bit less TrekLit.

Plus I've got all the books upstairs, and I finally have an answer to my dad's constant querying why I was buying them - they're work now!

You might also want to check your local groceries stores, because like I said up threat the Fry's up the street from me had been carrying it.

On a general note on that - if you can't find the mag stocked near you, email me at startrekmail@titanemail.com, as we can then pass that info onto our distributors to rectify the situation.
And it never ever hurts to ask your local comic shop to get it - we're listed in Diamond Comics Preview - or subscribe... US subscribers should be getting their copies any day now!

here in the UK my shop (Martins, which i work in) has delisted it from the must-stocklist as the supply of titles is now controlled from the wholesaler...

:brickwall::censored:

hopefully, though, i can finagle ordering a copy if the local WH Smith's *puttup* don't get it...

I would be really impressed if "Spock's Brain" was in that list.

"Spock's Brain" is too easy a target. Everybody always thinks of that one, and it's not as bad as other third-season eps.

Besides, with "Spock's Brain," you get stuff like this:

0003ce7s

Heck, it's not as bad as some first-season episodes. "The Alternative Factor" is far, far worse than "Spock's Brain." At least "Spock's Brain" is entertaining.

Just to let everyone know that there's a longer than normal extract from the first volume of Star Trek Destiny in issue 13 of Star Trek Magazine...

...Dave Mack's also provided an introduction explaining how Destiny differs from some of the previous crossover events - and for USS Titan fans, there are two all-new images of the ship, commissioned and especially created for the extract (because I could!)

Holy crap. I am getting this. Much props on the two new images of the ship!!!!:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

Trust me you won't be disappointed. I have a copy of the High-Res images already on my desktop from Ellery.

Glad you like them, Sean - you have a credit in the mag as well!
