The post is up. Fuzzy you know I think that it is a great idea, and if anyone is a member of STO and thinks it would be good form on Cryptic's to showcase all the great art that so many did, only to have it no longer out there for all to enjoy, let the powers that be know at this link.

Maybe you could contact Hallmark and have your ship and the runners up as ornaments.

I think the takeaway here is that we should not drink and blog.

    Or not.

Anyhoo, moving this thread back on topic...

Here's some renders of that rough as mesh I made of the E-F. I think the overall shape is reasonably accurate, right down to the stupid looking neck intersection. If I carry on with this, the first order of business for me will be to go off "canon" and streamline this whole area. A T joint neck just doesnt look right.

    Anyhoo, onto the pics!

So here's my "adjusted" version with the streamlined neck. I hope Cryptic sees this, as I feel it not only makes sense from an aesthetic viewpoint but also a practical one "in universe" as it adds more interior volume to the ship and also structural integrity to the necks.

The mesh itself is pretty damned messy though so I don't think I'll be carrying on with this. I'm still not entirely sure how that saucer/neck line blends into the nacelle struts and how that in turn blends with the secondary hull, but oh well. I hope you guys dig what i've done.

I never did like the idea of the red nacelle end caps being bussards, but the insides of that neck look to be intakes, perhaps. Heck, that design might even spark the imagination of someone doing work on scramjets...

^Yes, I'm sure aerospace engineers look for ideas here all the time.

Didn't one of Ihlecreation's original sketches have the impulse engines all up in the neck? I recall them being some pretty sexy-looking vertical installations. And there would actually be room for it now.

Wanted to extend my congratulations to Mr. Ihle in winning the Enterprise Contest and the others who really put up some very creative designs.

    Live Long and Prosper!

Star Trek Online has released the Enterprise F.

    She's a real beauty Adam! :D

I added a little more polish after getting Andrew Probert's help. Mostly she's just smoother around the neck/strut area.

I wasn't sold on the potatoprise and still don't think that it was the best ship in the contest. The render, however, is nice.

I'd take that ship over the nu-prise and Voyager.

    They worked it out.

Anyone know where the runners up can be seen? They're down from the STO site.

The site is gone. I think the only place you can see them now is a picture of the judges looking at a poster board. Let's see...

    Found it:

Hard too see, and only some of them.

You can kind-of see them in the background of this page too:

    *Edit

I just checked for cached versions of the site and found none. Cryptic presumably still has them on file, but hasn't indicated a willingness the fix the broken links on the winner announcement page :(

I wish I'd known they were going to take the site down. I'd have saved a bunch of them. There are at least a dozen I'd love to have another look at.

Hi all been a while. Over a year ago I was asked by Andrew Probert to keep working on my Enterprise design and finish it as I saw it.
Well here is a really quick sketch of where I see/saw it. Now I realize there are serious flaws to this but like I said this a sketch from which I will take and omit ideas.

Interesting... curious as to what the front of the secondary hull/deflector looks like...
