Den of Geek review of Season 3

They have to hold off the announcement so that they don’t spoil some of the ending of Picard season 3… probably. Also the Networks and Producers probably have not made any final decisions as of yet in regards to potential spin-offs.
Obviously the Enterprise F is in Picard season 3, this ship will have a Captain. If we know through the announcement of a spin-off that Seven will become the Captain of the Enterprise then we know that its current Captain is not going to last past season 3 of Picard. That could potentially be a *major* spoiler.

Assuming there is a Seven spin-off in the works and further assuming that P+ decides to start the hype train before PIC S3 has wrapped, it's easy enough to drop a spoiler-free teaser.

I think she'll stay on the Titan.

I must admit, it would make one HELL of an arc.

Going from Borg POW on Voyager to
Captain of the Enterprise. Wow.

Does Starfleet trust her THAT much? Do they trust her with the E?

Even Jean-Luc started out commanding Stargazer before moving on to the E.

I don’t think that they could tease this without giving away major spoilers for Picard season 3 tbh. If it’s true that a Seven of Nine spin-off series is coming then it is probably the worst kept secret ever… unless they actually kill Seven off and put an end to the idea, but if they did kill her off there is always… Unimatrix Zero! :D

They're not going to kill her off. (Why put her in a Starfleet uniform just to give her the axe?)

She was brought to Picard for a reason. Besides, they did the Bury Your Gays thing on Disco -- and the fans spanked them for it.

If anyone is going to die, it'll probably be one of the TNG crew (this is supposed to be their last outing).

Do you want to hear a funny Seven joke?

Why is Ten scared of Seven?

Terry Matalas has said that S3 is going to involve DS9.

Picard's last acts as a SF officer may well be to promote Seven to Captain and to reinstate Raffi as a full Commander (echoing Sisko's decision to promote Nog to Lieutenant just before he died in the final episode of DS9).

Matalas has said that he likes open endings where everyone can make up their own story of how things go on. And Frakes has said that the ending leaves room for more stories. Sir Patrick has said that things don’t end for JLP the way the ended for Charles Xavier and that JLP will get closure but still have a “question mark over his head”.

Piecing all that together I think it’s safe to assume that the ending won’t be too specific in terms of “what’s gonna happen next”. I mean they do seem to want to have a continuation of some sorts with a spin-off show or something; the last thing they’ll want is to back themselves into a corner that limits their possibilities right from the start.

He said it's going to involve the consequences of DS9's story, not DS9 herself.

I don't think the Enterprise-F is going to very important to the story, just for the simple fact that according to the VFX supervisor that they didn't make a hero quality version of the model, it's just the STO model straight up. Which probably means no close ups of her, not like the Titan.

man, it’s gonna be ugly around here if they kill off Seven in the first episode of the season.
I'm pretty sure Jeri was filming the entire time.

Even Charles Xavier
came back in Multiverse of Madness.

That
Wasn't the same Xavier as in the X-Men movies, that was one of his counter-parts from another reality. And he stayed in that reality. So he didn't return.

;-)
