delta flyer and the aeroshuttle

We never got to seen the aeroshuttle but after reading the info about it in the official starships collection magazine,it basic operations is what the flyer was built for,so wont it be easlier if they redesign the shuttle for DQ and add the things they gave to the flyer?.

I suspect that TPTB wanted the Delta Flyer to seem as cutting edge as possible, so building a new design would serve that intention better than just starting to use the aeroshuttle.

Also, like the Captains yacht in Insurrection, when the vessel was deployed, there would be a gap in the hull. Given that Voyager already required two different types of shots because of the ship because of the moving warp pylons, it would've probably been an expense they wouldn't have wanted to take on.

I don't think the aerowing shuttle really existed outside of the designer's minds. Voyager's MSD cutaway shows a ship with two warp cores, two computer cores, two bridges and two navigational deflectors - but the stories themselves make it crystal clear that Voyager only has one of each. It's a cool looking graphic, but not meant to be taken as anything more.

Plus, with a drop-down shuttle craft, you can't make use of the existing shuttlebay set, which would be a huge waste.

I can't even read that without taking a drink break.

Dammit woman, buy some technical manuals and get back here when you're all schooled up in drop down shuttles, computer cores, millicochranes and EPS plasma.

You fans who watch it for the "characters" and other laa-dee-dah stuff.

:p :p :p :)

No, teacake. THIS is hot:

I give you a pass KingDaniel because as you know I love ST:XI and ample nacelles are therefore cool.

So. What do you think Nimoy really meant by "thrusters on full"?

Ceiling Keenser knows.
I wish someone would flesh that "magazine" out.
This is as close as you're gonna get, Starship Design: Interstellar Forum for Naval Power:

starship-design-cover.jpg

I got one off eBay a few years ago for next to nothing.
It has ultra-realistic, ultra-dry in-universe articles about Starfleet ships. There are even pages of nacelle and nacelle pylon diagrams. My favourite bits are the ads for starship sensor and targeting systems, and the classifieds.

HERE is a link to scans of the diagrams, but none of the text is included.

Wow I can't compute that amount of technobabble.

They would have used a holographic duck blind to obscure the massive handsome target that hole in the ship made to passing bastards.

Actually, they had the technology to always holographically obscure the ships silhouette since their show down with the Kazon in season 2. If looking at Voyager, but an armed boarding party saw a Kazon city ship 15 times the size of Voyager (Yes, they are that big) instead, one, most of their torpedoes would miss as they are targeting vital holographic areas that do not exist and two, the boarding parties would board into space hundreds of meters form where Voyager actually was.

Meanwhile if the ship was always under cloak, the production team would never would have had to use CGI graphics ever again.
