Apparently there is a nova occurring right now, in the constellation Delphinus. There's also a video of it on YouTube.

Prayers for all the unfortunate souls that died when their star, Delphinus 2013, blew up, even though they were given clear warnings and offered plenty of opportunities to evacuate over the preceding centuries. Some species are just stubborn.

At least it wasn't a quantum implosion... that would have produced a Level-12 shock wave that would have destroyed everything in that system.
