And of course in Star Trek II, Kirk was supposed to mention Sulu's new Captaincy of the Excelsior, but that was cut, but happened later.

And the scene where Kirk was put on Trial over what happened to the Marcus' space station by David Marcus and friends, that was cut too, but a scene from that was on the back of the video tape box.

I always thought it was a pity that Madden was not used in the novels.
