Defying Gravity UK Thread

Tonight? I thought last week they said it was on tomorrow night. All I see tonight is Andrew bleedin' Marr. ;)

Interestingly, last week in this other forum I visit, I started a Defying Gravity thread only to have three others start one up at the same time. Mine prevailed. :D Mind you, from what I've read of the comments so far, not many people like the show.

So far I wouldn't be too upset if it got cancelled (already has been from what I hear) but I'll watch it till the end of the series, unless the quality dips.

I just finished watching this show last week. IMHO, I think this is a great show. See gravityforums.com to talk about the show in more depth.

So, did anyone actually watch it? I can't say the show is particularly what I hoped, but I think it's enjoyable enough for me to watch the rest of the season.

Just watching it now:).

It's mostly the actors I like that are keeping me interested and I am curious to see where it goes.

Watched it - didn't like episode 3 as much as 1&2, essentially nothing happened and I'm beginning to wonder if there's anyone who hasn't slept together. I think we saw actual space maybe once this episode, with a token nod to Jupiter's moons. Otherwise, it could have taken place in the Big Brother house.

Still, I'm interested to see where it's going, so I'll stick with it for a bit I suspect. Let's face it, I still watch Merlin, this thing deserves a chance.

I've read the spoilers for how the series would have developed had it not been cancelled. It sounds intriguing but I think I would have bailed out long before the end (on Pluto?) because of the tedious soap opera filler material.

Can you link me to that spoilers?

Doesn't spoil the big question about what Alpha, Beta etc. really are -- the series creator apparently had no idea either.

It's patently obvious what they are: Same thing as this quantum flux.

Yeah. I really do not get why people think this sort of lazy myth arcing amounts to a worthwhile, coherent story worthy of putting money, actors, time and SFX into, but I disgress.

I don't expect all TV shows to be planned out in advance a la B5, but if you have some Mysterious Shtick going on in the background someone had better know what it is otherwise even after the reveal it'll look like a bunch of plot contrivances because, hey, that's what it is.

I agree, shows don't have to be planned out to be worthwhile but if you're going to pretend there's some big plan, or that there's some mystery to be worked out then there needs to be some forethought as to what you're going to do when it comes to explaining the plan or mystery.
