It's that time of year again--time to show off your holiday decorations. I got started the weekend after Thanksgiving. I put the tree up; it's fake, so it can stay up as long as I bloody like. ;) The Star Trek Wreath is on the door and stocking are up in the dining room--don't have a fireplace, so I just make-do.

Here's my little tree, completely crammed with ornaments:

I have a huge collection for such a tiny tree; I had to leave several off. I did, however, buy a new one this year--this cute little piggy:

The rest of the house and the yard are yet to be done. I'll post those later. SO....I've shown you mine; you show me yours!

Nice. My sister is in charge of the tree trimming here at home. Tomorrow I get to put up the synthetic tree in the office.

Following Bavarian tradition I shan't put up the decorations before Advent starts. And the tree is put up in the afternoon of Christmas eve. (We get our presents in the evening of the 24th, 12 hours before you get yours :nyah: )
I'll stick a few stars to the windows next week, maybe.

It does, doesn't it?

My mom taught me how to decorate a tree:
"Are we done yet, Mom?"
"No, there's still some green showing!"

We usually do a live tree but with us living in a small apartment until we move up to Syracuse, we opted for a skinny pre-lit artificial tree this year.

My son's Ian and Aaron helping out with the decorations.

^ I like it; blue and white. It's quite cool and soothing. :)

I tended to prefer red, gold and other bright colours in the past, but the last few years I've moved over to mauve, silver and blue, and a generally more subdued tree.

The tree, well stocked with musical instruments and Tucson themed ornaments. (Where I grew up, we tied red bows around our saguaros instead of hoping for snow, lol.)

And here's a closeup of one of the crocheted snowflake ornaments I made last year:

Sorry the images are kinda crappy; I took these with my ipod.

And here's what I'll be wrapping this year:

I would love a tree but between my lack of funds and lack of time i dont think that will happen this year. I think I'll have to settle for admiring all of your guys' hard work :)

I love everyone's pictures. They are so fun. John has insisted on a real tree this year, which will be cool. I haven't had a real tree in a long time. Hopefully, we will have the tree up next week. We have decided on silver and blue decorations this year. I will have John post help me pictures when we finish. This will be our first Christmas with Baby Elizabeth so we are very excited! :)

Your mom sounds like my dad. In 50 years of marriage, Mom and Dad have collected 400+ ornaments. And they always manage to get every last one on the tree!

Heh. That's exactly like my family. Check out some of these pics from my parents' house. Keep in mind that we're all atheists---and yet my Mom puts a Martha Stewart Christmas to SHAME.
Last year, Mom & Dad had just moved into a new house, so Mom told everyone that Christmas would be a "low-key" affair. Here's her version of a low key Christmas:

...and my hubby thinks I'm nuts for putting up a tree!
