Welcome to the BBS. There is a FAQ, somewhere; we've just moved to this new host. For help with avatars, go to the website forum.
Generally, you need at least 100 posts (that are NOT Spam) and a couple of weeks on the BBS before you can have an avatar. To change it, when you are able, go to your username in the right-hand corner and you will see a list of options, including "Avatar."
Also, reviving years-old threads is generally discouraged.
