Is the Picard novel still coming out in December?

Just checked and it’s still up on the UK Amazon store with a December 15th release date. No guarantee it won’t disappear in the next few days though.
Well, seeing as how we don’t have a name or author for it to the best of my knowledge, it could very well be having some kind of delay. Given current events, I’d expect all sorts of delays to hit any number of things, honestly.
But it could also just be that until there is an announcement of author and/or title, the sites in question withdrew the listing and, once either or both materialize, the listing will return.

Another possibility is maybe the book was supposed to be a sort of tie-in with the second season premiere. IIRC, before Corona screwed the world over, season 2 of Picard was scheduled to begin filming in April, meaning it could have made a January 2021 premiere date (season 1 began filming April 2019 and premiered January 2020). A January premiere could easily have a tie-in novel in December, the better to take advantage of Christmas sales.
With a January premiere not happening now since season 2 has not begun filming, maybe they're just going to withhold the novel until whenever it does premiere? Kind of like how Desperate Hours was constantly rescheduled because Disco's premiere date kept moving around.

It's still listed, just for 2045, which can mean anything from delayed with no new release date yet to being cancelled if the past is any indication

There are far better writers than him on the books right now, plus some new blood would be better.
Why would DRG III NOT write for the series? He's friends with Beyer and pitched to Kurtzman.

The Doctor Who critic Elizabeth Sandifer raised the same issue in one of her Capaldi-era TARDIS Eruditorum essays -- why are the same tie-in writers getting commissions from BBC Books, Titan Comics, Big Finish? Where are the new voices? It's all to do with business. It's the reality of publishing in general and tie-in publishing in particular -- editors tend to commission work from the same people because 1) they have a relationship with the writer, 2) they know they can work with the writer, 3) they know the writer can produce the work on time and with minimal fuss for themselves and the property owner, and 4) they know the writer is willing to work on the project under the conditions and terms. Tie-in fiction doesn't have a slush pile and unsolicited agented submissions like other fiction where new voices can emerge. What that means for Star Trek books, for good or ill, is that with fewer than a dozen slots a year Margaret and Ed can fill all of them, easily, with the stable of writers S&S has turned to over the past decade. That doesn't leave much, if any, room on the schedule for a new voice. I grew up with the long ago status quo where almost every month the author of the new Star Trek book was new and different and a returning author was a rare treat, but that kind of schedule is long dead and gone.
I don't feel he is a very good writer, he hasn't written a Trek novel I've liked in nearly 20 years.
Wow, for once you and I agree, to a degree. I loved his stuff for a long time, but Revelation and Dust was one of the most boring books I have ever read, and I haven't read them, but from the reactions I've seen to his books since then, it sounds like they weren't much better.
