:bolian: I loved it especialy seeing tonalak and tasha's duaghter and the huge romulan space battle great read. next going to read articles of the federation .:borg:

I actually thought this was the weakest of the TNG relaunch novels leading up to Destiny. I'm glad I didn't stop reading after this one.

stoped watching after season 2 could'nt stand it. quit post lost links please?!?!
now should i go after the articles of the federation or onto ds9 with avatar?

TNG got better after season two. I did not care for Pulaski, and I wasn't really a fan of Tasha either. I have to say I liked Death in Winter. Though to be honest I didn't care for the American Cover. (it took me a while to realize I was looking at a silhouette of Doctor Crusher). One it was way too big on the cover and being visually impaired didn't help either. I think someone here posted the German cover and I had preferred that one.

no I stopped watching lost after season 2 watched tng all the way threw as well as ds9 and voyager plus enterprise did'nt care for the season finale of enterprise though. best season ender I think was voyager.

I disliked "Death in Winter". While it's not up there for me in terms of "Resistance" or "Before Dishonor" travesty it is one of the weakest of the TNG continuation books. I like Micheal Jan Friedman's writing style for the most part but found it didn't work with the context of this book. I can't really explain it but it felt off in this novel.

well just startered back into the tng I've read enterprise stiright threw liked most of them . and I was either going to go into vanguard or sto but I decied to go back to the tng universe I've read death in winter and death before dishonor which was good . peter david is one of the best with the likes of greg cox or m j f . so does that mean janeway is dead ?

I loved Death In Winter. I know most others have issues with it; but for me, it really worked. The entire time reading it, it felt like an engaging and moving episode.

I can't really explain why I like this novel so much. Was it the Picard/Crusher thing? Maybe. But I think it had more to do with the landscape/planet and the romulan tie ins.

I give this book an 'A-' grade and in my top 25 to read.

I know it's late and all, but what has Lost got to do with this?

Oh and Death in Winter was shite.

Yes, Janeway is dead.

wow why kill off a character a major one like that? So early in the reluanch of tng universe . I mean they kill spock they
kill kirk and they bring both of them back and then they kill
kirk a second time around and it looks perment . shattner say's he won't be in star trek 12 . but to kill janeway off
like that wow:vulcan: I liked her and the crew of voyager . I
just started gettiing back into tng . well my next book will
be articles of the federation and then resistance.:borg::borg:

One thing that DIW suggested, but which seems to have been ignored (and I'm glad they did ignore it) in subsequent novels:

Marie Picard died in the fire that killed Robert and Rene. In subsequent novels, this is ignored, and she didn't die in the fire.

In Losing the Peace it said she survived and was still living at the vineyard. I think she is in at least one chapter of the book. That was the first time I think she was in a star trek novel. SNW what novel is that one?

I will have to re read DIW to see her mentioned. I don't remember her being mentioned.
