Deadwood

^Ah! You refer to the infamous "Al & Mr. Woo's failure to communicate."

Don't say I never gave you anything.

Here you go---So VERY, VERY NOT safe for work:

Just finished watching season one on DVD a few days ago myself, having seen much of it on TV. I have no idea what happens in seasons two or three, but I'm there! McShane's Swearengen may be a monster, but he sure is entertaining. Dourif is great, too, with a character you can respect and root for.

He is one of the secondary characters, not a main character, but he's still important, one hell of an actor, and probably one of the best people (in terms of quality of character etc.) on the show.

Yes indeed. As an army doctor in the Civil War, Doc Cochrane has probably seen more death and maiming than the rest of the main characters put together, an experience that has left him with little faith in the world. His constant efforts to maintain his moral center are brilliantly played by Dourif.

Another good secondary character is Mr. Ellsworth, an honest, salt of the earth prospector played with wonderful understatement by Jim Beaver.

Peaches & cinnamon anyone?

Only if it's authorized cinnamon.

Yes, he is! His performance is pitch-perfect. He's a wonderfully sympathetic, likable character.

I love Jim Beaver; he's a terrific actor. :techman:

He really is, and he has a great appreciation for the craft of the character actor. Apparently when he got into the business he told an agent he wanted the kind of roles Warren Oates used to get. You've got to respect that!

Deadwood is absolutely full of wonderful character scenes, one that stands out for me is the sad, poignant fate of the Rev.Smith.

^Yes. That was a great scene, Al showing perhaps the greatest act of kindness he could manage.

That was terribly sad.
