DEAD SPACE is here! Discussion thread ...

For the record - the "Captains Nest" room in the 4th mission - most beautiful video game environment I've ever seen (save for, perhaps, some of the "beach approaching Nova Prospekt" stuff from HL2).

Damn. I think I will pick this game up. I just need to hold out until after my midterms next week.

Agreed.
The atrium is pretty damn awesome as well.
I wish they gave you a bit more time to see it before "you know what happens". ;)

The centrifuge room was lots of fun before and after you you do a particular event.
I had a ton of fun in the zero-G environment and the game has pretty decent puzzles as well.

Just got to the part where you have to shoot the asteroids.

You won't be sorry.
I pretty much just started the 4th chapter (of 13 BTW) and I have yet to find anything I dislike about the game.

I still hold by my 10/10 :techman:

I wasn't going to buy it but EB was giving out art books with 3D glasses!

Well I stopped by my local GameStop and scored a copy of the Art book.

Hard back, 96 pages and very cool 3D art, Very nice!:techman:

I also looked in both the 360 and PS3 sections and they were all sold out of the game.
When the guy gave me the book I asked him about how well the game was doing and he said 90% of the folks that pre-ordered it had already picked it up and they had a LOT of pre-orders.
He said they also sold their last copies of the 360 and PS3 versions last night.

I know at this point I will defiantly be getting the prequel animated movie.
It dosen't hurt that the game came with a $3.00 off coupon either. :techman:

Trying to beat the Leviathan now.
WOW he is a sumbitch!

Chapter six has been great level so far.
It seems like each chapter it just keeps getting better and better.
Half way into the game and I still haven't seen/played anything I didn't like.

Awesome, Awesome game.

Reached level 10 after 8 hrs. Started encountering an annoying baddie back in lvl-9 who carries walking heads on his back. Not that tough, just a pain in the ass. Some great stuff with the USM Valor coming to the "rescue". I have a feeling no one is making it off the Ishimura. This is easily one of my top ten favorite 360 games or just game overall. They need to do more in this universe. The semi-animated comics you can download on marketplace are great and I'm looking forward to the animated movie, but I want more - much more. A sequel at least and definitely a live action movie.

I hear ya, I feel the same way.
This game is very addicting and I really dig the Dead Space universe.
I wouldn't mind seeing a live action movie.

I know it sounds crazy but I kinda wish now I bought the Ultimate Edition.
At first I thought it was a ridiculous price but now it may be worth it.

I'm wanting to pick this up, but I'm torn between it and a few other games...does anyone know when TRU's buy 2 get 1 free sale is over?

Doh. I just realized that Fable II is out next week and Fallout 3 the week after. I think I will wait for F3 to come out and compare the reviews of the games and get one of those. I don't like having a stack of games to play.

Yeah, this is like the worst possible time for my 360 to decide to red ring. With Dead Space now out, Fable II coming next week and Fallout 3 the week after, I'm tortured. All these great games, and I have to wait weeks to play them.

I am going to wait until the price drops before I get it or used copies start hitting the stores. I learned my lesson with F.E.A.R. I heard all kinds of great things about that game. The chick at Gamestop told me it was one of the "scariest games out there" so I get it and it SUCKED! I was bored too death playing it and it wasnt scary. I tried playing it in the dark hopefully trying to make it more scary and I ended up falling asleep while playing.

Today is the last day.
I'm actually heading back to CC and have them price match some Wii games for my GF.

F.E.A.R is very mediocre and hokey compared to Dead Space.

Sorry to keep harping on this game but it just gets better and better with every chapter.

Chapter 7 was pretty kick ass.
The part with the giant asteroid (if your up to/past that point you'll know what I'm talking about) was really cool.

Chapter 8 is kick ass so far too!
The scarecrow looking monster that lets loose the octopus monsters when he dies was cool as shit.
Your death animation with the octopus monsters is off the f-ing hook and is the coolest/sickest thing I've seen in a game.

Basically the octopus monsters are a rotting human head with tentacles coming from the neck it uses to crawl and jump around with.
In your death animation the octopus monster jumps up on your chest and raps his tentacles around your neck so you are face to face with it as it rips your head off.
After it rips your head off it crawls to where your head used to be and sticks it tentacles down your neck and animates your body.
You start walking away and the new rotting head starts flopping around so your hands reach up to steady it then you fall over and die.
TOTALLY F-ING SICK!!!
I love it!!!

Like I said, so far I'm up to Chapter 8 of 13 and I haven't found a single thing I really dis-like about this game.
I just repaired the antenna array and that was cool as hell too.

10/10 :techman:

So I just finished the game, and I must admit the ending does leave a little be desired.

That being said, it was a great ride...

FUCK! I totally would have bought that ultimate super duper edition had I realized there even was one! I really just want the Ishimura patch, though, since the rest I can pretty much download or buy seperately. Hope the patch is offered seperately somewhere...

Finished the game by the way. I thought the end was pretty cool, with plenty of sequel room. I took 11:54 to beat the thing looking in every nook and cranny, getting all but ten of the achievements and have already started another round using the military suit. Then I'll burn through at least once more on impossible difficulty. Such a great game. Until Betrayal, I simply wasn't expecting it (the betrayal that is). I totally should have, but I didn't so it was sweet.

Anyone looking for all the logs, i found one inside a hidden room behind the bookshelf in Dr. Kine's office on the medical level, during my second run-through. Just throwing that out there.

-----

I also translated something that kept popping up on the monitors in the code language (which apparently contains actual in-game usable codes scattered around the game but I haven't unlocked them yet). Anyway, it kept repeating:

"The ships
are coming
for the chosen"

What ships? Can't be the Kellion or Valor. Neither was coming for that purpose. I hope it's a hint for the sequel that whatever made the original Marker is coming to collect the nightmare mankind has unleashed.
