Dead Boy Detectives (Sandman spin-off)

I also think it would be interesting to see how the dynamic changes with having the Night Nurse as a member. Probably a lot of complaining and muttering on her part.

Having read the comics so recently, I was surprised by them being older characters. And all the added relationship drama was just annoying to me. But the plots were enjoyable, and my wife enjoyed it, so we could watch it together, which is always more fun.

It was canceled a while back. Screen Rant did an article
The Sandman spin-off garnered just 3.1 million views in its first three days on the platform. Although its views rose to just shy of 5 million during its first week, Dead Boy Detectives had an incredibly sharp decline, falling to a slim 1.8 million views by week three. After that, it vanished from the streamer's Top 10 chart altogether. Netflix's metrics for determining a show's success or failure are often criticized for being obtuse. However, the streaming giant often cites a week-to-week drop-off as a major factor in its renewal decisions.

I hate Netflix cancellation policy--so many shows I like last only a season and end on a promise of more while shows I think are crap keep coming back. I went into Deadboy Detectives fully expecting it was a one season and done show.

I again set forth my view that NF's "dump it all at once to binge" strategy kills more good shows than not. Kills potential word of mouth and prevents anything from becoming a "watercooler" show.

Good point! It makes it hard to discuss online as well, since I tend to watch a show one episode per week (I'm old - that's how I like to watch shows :D ), and any discussion online will involve bingers who've seen it all.

Exactly. In my case it's not even that I'm old (though I am) or that it's how I prefer to watch shows (I do). It's that I don't have enough free time to binge something if I wanted to. I think the last time I binged anything was S3 of Stranger Things and that was because it was 4th of July and it rained all day!

And I feel the same, I hardly have time to binge shows--and I like to move slowly through a series I really like, often watching only one or two eps a week. By the time I am ready to discuss a series, the discussion has usually petered out.

I like to take my time too, but for me it's just after 2 or 3 episodes of one show, I'm usually ready to move on to something else.
